Awareness Rally for Voter’s Day

Department of Computer Science (SSS and DSA), as a part of its Extension Activity (SLCS – Samaaj Seva), organized a program “Awareness Rally for Voter’s Day” on 20.03.2024 from 09:30 AM to 01:30 PM at Solankuruni Village. Students formed the rally and visited the village in the presence of village president. Students participated in the activity and gave awareness to the public.

Outcome: The people were supportive to the SLCS students and cooperated for the day. If the same is practiced throughout the entire process the Nation’s dream will be fulfilled.

“Importance Of Cyber Security”

The Department of Computer Science (SSS), as a part of its Extension Activity (SLCS – SamaajSeva), organized a program “Awareness on Cyber Security” on 13.09.2023 between 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM at St. Anne’s Girls MHSS, Madurai.  10 students B.Sc CS (SSS) demonstrated live defence attacks to the school students. They explained all the tools and menus in Kali Linux. Finally they created awareness among the school students about toll free number and website to register about the online frauds. Totally 73 students from  St. Anne’s Girls MHSS, Madurai got benefitted in this activity.

“Importance Of Cyber Security”

The Department of Computer Science (SSS), as a part of its Extension Activity (SLCS – SamaajSeva), organized a program “Importance of Cyber Security” on 16.10.2023 between 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM at BMK International School, Aruppukottai.  Six students from I and III B.Sc CS (SSS) demonstrated live defence attacks to the school students. They explained all the tools and menus in Kali Linux. Finally they created awareness among the school students about toll free number and website to register about the online frauds. Totally 50 students from BMK International School, Aruppukottai got benefitted in this activity.

Awareness on Cyber Security through Community Radio

Department of Computer Science (SSS and DSA), as a part of its Extension Activity (SLCS – Samaaj Seva), organized a program “Awareness on Cyber Security through Community Radio” on 28.03.2024 from 12:00 Noon to 01:30 PM. Students performed the role play with scripts. This programme would have been an awareness for the public.

 Outcome: Awareness on Cyber Security was spread to the public through the community radio.

Extension Activity

On August 4th, 2023, the Department of Computer Science at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College organized a comprehensive “Cyber Security” orientation program for the 12th-grade students of KRS CBSE School. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of online security in today’s digital age.

At the event, Assistant Professor S. Krishnaprasad from SLCS College led the session, accompanied by knowledgeable students R. Ganesa Subramaniam, K. Karuppusamy, and Saran. They all joined forces to educate the young audience about the potential threats of malware programs on the internet, the intricacies of online transactions, and the risks associated with certain mobile phone apps.

The speakers emphasized the critical need for students to exercise caution when dealing with online platforms that might attempt to compromise their personal information. Through engaging explanations and relatable examples, they shed light on the methods used by cybercriminals to gain unauthorized access to sensitive data.

The highlight of the program was the interactive Q&A session where the students had the chance to clarify their doubts. Enthusiastic participation from both the speakers and the students created a dynamic learning environment, allowing for a fruitful exchange of knowledge.

By the end of the orientation program, the students left with a better understanding of the cyber threats that exist in the digital realm and the practical steps they can take to safeguard themselves. The event served as a valuable reminder that in an increasingly interconnected world, staying informed about cyber security is not just important – it’s essential.

Awareness on Road Safety

Department of Computer Science (SSS and DSA), as a part of its Extension Activity (SLCS – Samaaj Seva), organized a program “Awareness on Road Safety” on 13.01.2024 from 09:30 AM to 03:30 PM at Periyar bus stand and MGR bus stand. Students were allowed to spend their one day with traffic police officers at the respective places. Students participated in the activity and gave awareness to the public on pedestrian crossing, wearing helmet, over speed and footpath travelling.

Outcome: The people were supportive to the SLCS students and cooperated for the day. If the same is practiced throughout the entire process on road safety will be fulfilled.

Date: 15.07.24 and 16.07.24 Location: Kalavasal, Madurai Purpose: To gain industry insights, learn about Data Science and Machine Learning Introduction: The industrial visit to V3 Analytics Private Limited was an enriching experience that provided valuable insights into the industry sector. Our group of 37 + 40 students had the opportunity to explore the company’s facilities, learn about their operations, and interact with their team. Key Takeaways: Understood about the basic concepts of AI Machine learning, Text Mining and Deep Learning.. Those who are interested can Kick start their career by learning Machine learning.

Industrial Visit – Spectrum Softtech Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

(System Security Specialization and Data Science and Analytics)

The Department of Computer Science organized an Industrial Visit to Spectrum Softtech Solutions Pvt. Ltd Cochin on 09.04.24. Spectrum Softtech Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Kochi, Kerala was incorporated as a private limited company in 1998 with an objective of offering advanced technological solutions in the fields of Information Technology. During the session students came to know about Software Development, Colocation Services, Web Designing, Web Hosting, Domain Registration, Digital Marketing and other IT enabled services. Students also understood that changing customer needs, and enrich their quality of life by simply making the technology readily usable for them.

 

ASSOCIATION INAUGURAL AND ALUMNI INTERACTION

Department of CS (SSS and DSA) organized its department association inaugural ceremony on 01.07.24. Initally, the programme started with Prayer, welcome address performed by Ms. J. S. Divya Dharshini, III B. Sc CS SSS. Presidential address by Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, Feliciation by Dr. S. Priya, Dean Academics and Dr. T. Guru Baskar, Vice-Principal. About the department and introduction of association of names TECHNOFEST and DATA NEXUS to the first year students was performed by Dr. P. K. Manoj Kumar. Introduction to chief guest was given by MS. M. S. Kavya Devi, II B. Sc CS (SSS). The chief guest day was Ms. Sindhu Manivannan (2008-2011), Full Stack Developer Lead Mentor, Entri App, Cochin gave more how to discover our self through some activities. GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Department of Computer Science and Networking jointly organized seminar on Generative Artificial Intelligence on 19.07.24. Welcome address was given Ms. M. Vishnuvarthini, II B. Sc CS DSA. Introduction to chief guest was given by Ms. A. Harshitha, III B. Sc Networking. Mr. Rajagopal Venkatraman, Fouder and CTO, Star Systems Private limited, Commusoft private limited was the chief guest for the day. Chief guest discussed on generative artificial intelligence (AI), it’s important to cover its capabilities, applications, and implications. it’s a subset of artificial intelligence focused on creating new content rather than just interpreting data or making decisions based on existing data. Types of Generative AI is Text Generation, Image Generation and Music and Audio Generation.  Applications are Creative Industries, content creation and Scientific and Technical Fields with behind the technologies are Machine learning models. Challenges in quality control and advancements. Vote of thanks was given by Ms. S. Preethi, III B. Sc CS (SSS). 286 students got benefitted through this event.
