Value Added Course – Accounts pro computerized Financial Accounting – Tally ERP9 on 06.10.2025 to 10.10.2025

The Pinnacle Association of the Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS), Madurai, organized a Value Added Course – Accounts Pro: Computerized Financial Accounting (Tally ERP 9) from 06.10.2025 to 11.10.2025 for the III Year students. With the support of an efficient team of eminent faculty members from SSI Institution, Madurai, the training was conducted effectively. This course was designed to provide in-depth and practical knowledge on the usage of Tally software. As part of the training, module-wise tests were conducted frequently, and students’ performance was analyzed to assess their level of understanding. A total of 14 students registered for the course, and all 14 students successfully completed the programme.

The training enhanced students’ practical accounting skills and improved their confidence in using computerized accounting software. It also helped them understand real-time business transactions and their recording in Tally. The course provided industry-relevant exposure, preparing students for career opportunities in accounting and finance. Overall, the programme was highly beneficial in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

 

VALUE ADDED COURSE 2025-2026FROM 23TO 29 OCTOBER 2025

The Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS), Madurai, organized a Value Added Course for the I, II, and III Year students from 23rd to 29th October 2025, with a total of 92 students participating in the programme. The course was designed based on the CA Foundation syllabus, covering all four subjects, with the objective of strengthening the academic foundation of the students. During the course, comprehensive coaching was provided through well-structured sessions. Study materials, including notes and question banks, were shared with the students to support their learning process. Regular homework assignments were also given to reinforce learning and ensure continuous practice. Periodic tests were conducted, and the performance of the students was evaluated to assess their understanding and progress. The sessions were interactive and enabled students to clarify their doubts, enhance their conceptual clarity, and improve their exam preparedness. The course witnessed active participation and proved to be highly beneficial in equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills required for the CA Foundation examination. The Value Added Course was successfully completed, contributing significantly to the academic development of the students.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT FOR THE YEAR 2025 – 2026 FROM 18TH TO 21ST SEPTEMBER – III HONOURS

The Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS), Madurai, organized an Educational Tour from 18th to 21st September for the III Year students. A total of 14 students participated in the tour and were accompanied by Dr.Selvaraj, Head of the Department, and Ms.Jeyameena, Assistant Professor. The team departed from the college campus on the night of 18th September and travelled overnight to Cochin. On 19th September, the students reached Cochin, had refreshments and breakfast, and proceeded to Wonderla Amusement Park. In the evening, the group checked into the hotel, had dinner, and stayed overnight.On 20th September, after breakfast and checking out from the hotel, the team travelled to Vagamon, enjoying the scenic journey. Upon arrival, the students participated in a jeep safari, covering major local attractions such as Justine View Point, IlaveezhaPoonchira, and IllikkalKallu. After lunch, the students continued their visit in Vagamon, appreciating the scenic surroundings and spending time together in a calm and natural environment. After dinner, the team departed from Vagamon and travelled back to Madurai. The students reached the college campus early on 21st September, marking the successful completion of the Educational Tour. The tour provided students with memorable experiences, enhanced bonding among classmates, members, and offered valuable exposure beyond the classroom, contributing significantly to their overall academic and personal development.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT DATTATREYA TEXTILES PVT. LTD., ON 11.10.2025 – II HONOURS

The Department of Commerce (Honours) organized an Industrial Visit to Dattatreya Textiles Pvt. Ltd., Madurai, on 11th October 2025 for the students of II Year B.Com (Honours). A total of 44 students, accompanied by faculty members, participated in the visit with the objective of gaining practical exposure to industrial operations and enhancing their understanding of textile manufacturing processes.The primary aim of the visit was to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-time industrial practices. During the visit, students were introduced to the various stages involved in the production of yarn, including raw material handling, processing, and finishing. They also observed the functioning of advanced machinery used in textile manufacturing and gained insights into different yarn designs and quality standards.Feedback from the students indicated that the visit was highly informative and beneficial in understanding the practical aspects of their academic curriculum. Overall, the industrial visit was successfully conducted and proved to be an enriching learning experience. It played a vital role in strengthening students’ knowledge by connecting classroom concepts with practice.

 

INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT DATTATREYA TEXTILES PVT. LTD., ON 12.03.2026 – I HONOURS

The Department of Commerce (Honours) organized an Industrial Visit to Dattatreya Textiles Pvt. Ltd., Madurai, on 12th March 2026 for the students of I Year B.Com (Honours). A total of 48 students, accompanied by faculty members, participated in the visit with the objective of gaining practical exposure to industrial operations and enhancing their understanding of textile manufacturing processes.The primary aim of the visit was to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-time industrial practices. During the visit, students were introduced to the various stages involved in the production of yarn, including raw material handling, processing, and finishing. They also observed the functioning of advanced machinery used in textile manufacturing and gained insights into different yarn designs and quality standards.The production planning and scheduling processes particularly attracted the interest of students, as they demonstrated efficient coordination and workflow management. Feedback from the students indicated that the visit was highly informative and beneficial in understanding the practical aspects of their academic curriculum. Overall, the industrial visit was successfully conducted and proved to be an enriching learning experience. It played a vital role in strengthening students’ knowledge by connecting classroom concepts with practice.

“Career Training Program to Become a Qualified Chartered Accountant” on 02.08.2025.

The Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized a guest lecture on “Career Training Program to Become a Qualified Chartered Accountant” on 02.08.2025. The event was conducted under the banner of the Department Association PINNACLE. The session was graced by CA P.Nagaraju, founder of SN Coaching Classes, Chennai as the Chief Guest and Resource Person. He provided expert insights and shared effective techniques to excel in the CA exam. This event focused on smart study methods, time management, and regular practice. He encouraged students to maintain clarity in concepts and revise consistently. The session was highly interactive, with students enthusiastically participating in the question & answer segment. In total, 104 students and 3 faculties got benefited from the valuable guidance. The event concluded with a vote of thanks.

Alumni Interaction Session (2025–26) on 26.06.2025

As part of academic and career awareness initiatives, the Department of Commerce (Honours) organized an Alumni Interaction Session aimed at motivating and guiding the first-year students about the Chartered Accountancy (CA) course—its structure, exam preparation, and the journey ahead.The session began with a warm welcome by Dr. D. Selvaraj, Head of the Department, who also gave a brief introduction about the guest—an alumnus of the college from an earlier batch, who successfully completed his CA and currently works in the finance and audit domain.

The alumnus enthusiastically shared his personal journey of preparing for the CA exams, balancing studies with articleship, and overcoming challenges. He emphasized on time management, conceptual clarity, and strategic study planning. Key topics discussed included:

  • Understanding the CA Foundation and Inter syllabus
  • Choosing the right study materials
  • Tips for writing exams and handling pressure
  • Importance of consistency and mentorship

The session was highly interactive, with first-year students asking questions and clearing doubts about the CA course and career path. The alumnus encouraged students to remain focused and assured them that with dedication and proper guidance, success in the CA journey is achievable.The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the faculty coordinator, acknowledging the alumnus for taking time to mentor the juniors. The interaction served as a source of inspiration and provided clarity to many aspiring Chartered Accountants.In total, around 50 students participated and found the session both motivational and informative, making it a valuable addition to the department’s student engagement activities.

Chartered Accountant Day Celebration (2025–26) on 01.07.2025

Welcoming professionals and inspiring young minds is a tradition that nurtures motivation and excellence. In this spirit, the Pinnacle Association of the Department of Commerce (Honours) organized the Chartered Accountant Day Celebration on 01.07.2025 to honour the contributions of the CA community and motivate students towards professional excellence.The event commenced with a prayer song, followed by a warm Welcome Address by Dr. D. Selvaraj, Head of the Department. Before the Chief Guest took the stage, Mrs. P. Lalitha, Assistant Professor, delivered a brief introduction highlighting the guest’s professional achievements and contributions to the finance sector.

The highlight of the event was the session by CA Kamal Kishore G, Co-Founder & Lead Trainer at Arthanew Finance Consulting LLP, Chennai. Through his motivational talk, he shed light on the evolving role of Chartered Accountants—from compliance professionals to strategic business enablers. He emphasized key areas such as GST advisory, startup finance, ESG reporting, digital tax, AI in accounting, and career opportunities in the Global Capability Centers (GCCs). His speech also focused on the importance of upskilling, entrepreneurial mindset, and embracing tools like Power BI, IFRS, and ESG certifications.

The session included an interactive segment, where students actively engaged with the guest speaker, asking questions and seeking guidance on pursuing the CA profession and related career paths.The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. M. Jeyameena, Assistant Professor, followed by the National Anthem.In total, more than 45 students participated and benefitted immensely from the knowledge shared, making the event a resounding success.

“Pinnacle Association Inauguration2025-26 on 05.07.2025”

The Department of Commerce (Honours) of SubbalakshmiLakshmipathy College ofScience organized the Association Inaugurationceremony of our Department Association PINNACLE on 05.07.2025. The existing members were discharged and new association members were selected through voting method in our department for the year 2025-2026. Association panel members were designated with their roles and responsibilities. The program started with a power point presentation of previous year’s activities and the future vision of Pinnacle Association. The new members selected by voting of the students:

Vice President –Pavithran B (II Honours)

Member Secretary – Jesath Dev M (I Honours).

Totally, 104 students participated in the event and got benefitted. This event provided their valuable support in making the association move towards its objective.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO NAGA FOODS, DINDIGUL

Department of B.Com. (Honours) organized an industrial visit to Naga foods, Dindigul on 26.08.2023 ( Saturday). Totally, 40 students and 2 faculties participated in the event. The industrial visit was planned to explore the production activity, management process, technology in a manufacturing unit. Naga is one of the reputed companies that provide a wide range of wheat Flour/Maida all around Tamil Nadu. The industrial personnel interacted with students and they taught about varieties of products in Naga foods and its manufacturing process.

The visit helped the students to become more aware of industrial practice and regulations and also provides opportunity for experiential learning outside the classroom environment.
