Social Engineering

The Techie Quest Club of Computer Science department conducted a seminar on the topic-“Social Engineering” on 05.10.2022 at F40. Social Engineering attacks like phishing were illustrated to the students and also precaution steps were taught.Phishing is a type of internet scam in which user’s private information is stolen and used for criminal activity.So, the steps to secure their data were taught to students during this session.Students from various departmentswere participated in the program effectively. Totally, 25 students got benefitted through this club activity.

Session on “Launch of 5G Services in India by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi Ji.”

The Ministry of Education organized a Session on “Launch of 5G Services in India by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi Ji” on  01. 10. 2022.   The program was organized in our college by SLCS – Institution’s Innovation Council as live stream through YOUTUBE Platform. The 5G Launch program was held in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Our Prime Minister introduced 5G services in India, and conveyed that the technology will be available and accessible to all.  He also said that 3 major services such as Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone demonstrated the potential benefits of 5G services usage in linking better opportunities in sectors of education, agriculture, cyber security and disaster management.  He also informed that 5 G services is a greater push for Atmanirbhar Bharat. Totally, 175 students and 10 Faculty Members from various departments eagerly participated in the program.

One Week International Level Virtual Faculty Development Programme on “Advanced Trends in Education System”

A session on “Advanced Trends in Education System” was organized by Annamacharya PG College of Computer Studies, Rajampet, Andhra Pradesh, on 27.09.2022 towards One Week International Level Virtual Faculty Development Programme. Dr. Kumaran Thayumanavan, HoD, Department of BBA, was the resource person. He explained that Innovation and Creativity is crucial to the success of business. He further explained that creativity is the ability to produce new and unique ideas; innovation is the execution of the creative ideas and when properly fostered, leads to success. He initiated the participants to implement innovations which can solve day-to-day problems. The session was interactive and the participants showed keen interest on the topic. Totally, 49 faculties participated and benefited from this Virtual FDP.

Value Added Course on “Fruit and Vegetable Processing and Preservation”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Value added course on “Fruit and Vegetable Processing and Preservation” from 22.09.2022 to 27.09.2022 at SLCS Galley.     This course was presented to the students which included theoretical and hands-on-training programs with manufacturing aspects. Mr. M. Mariappan, Director, Senior Food Processing Consultant, Manoj Consultancy served as the trainer for this value addition program. He began the activity with an elaborate explanation of the jam, jellies, ketchup, tutyfruity and different varieties of fruit squashes and different varieties of vegetable pickle preparations.  At the end of the day, students gathered an appreciable level of practical knowledge on processing and preservation techniques with utmost satisfaction. Totally, 36 (I,II &III year) students from FSPM eagerly participated in this program.

Seminar on “Rural and Community Centric Tourism”

World Tourism Day is celebrated each year on September 27th to increase public awareness of the need to make travel and tourism accessible to all. The main purpose for the observation of this day is to spread and foster awareness of travel and tourism. So, the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management, in collaboration with the Madurai Forum of Tour organizers (FOTO), jointly organized the seminar on “Rural and Community Centric Tourism” on 27.9.2022. A total of 258 students from various departments actively participated in this seminar. Mr. P. Mahendravel, Perrys Tour and Travelers Pvt Ltd, Madurai and Mr. A. R. Muthuraman, Holiday Hub, Madurai have shared their knowledge about the  functions of tour operators, the role of tourism in the Indian economy, responsibilities of tourism guides, opportunities and challenges in the tourism sector.  A speech competition was conducted for students on the same day. Totally 10 students actively participated in the competition. R. Ishwarya Prabha, B.Com Honours, third year student, won the first prize, and she got a free air ticket from Maduari to Chennai. This seminar motivated and encouraged the students, who had a memorable experience.

Career Training Program on “Accounting for Business”

Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai and ISDC, Bangalore jointly organized a Career Training Program on “Accounting for Business” from 12.09.2022 to 26.09.2022 on Zoom Meet (Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/s/84572444933#success) Prof. Disha Kabra,  Faculty,  International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), Bangalore, was the instructor. Students were able to maintain a complete and systematic record of all transactions and analyze the financial position of a business. Every individual or a business concern is interested to know the results of financial transactions and their results are ascertained through the accounting process. Totally, 22 students of II ACCA participated and benefitted through this value added course.

 

Career Guidance Program on “Opportunities in Gaming Industry”

D.P. Roy ChoudhuryAssociation, Department of Animation, organized a Career Guidance Program on “Opportunities in Gaming Industry” on 23.09.2022 at11.00am in Seminar Hall of our college premises.

The Program started with the prayer song and the welcome address was delivered by Mr. P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation. Mr. Rajesh, Technical Head, Scopik Edutech Pvt. Ltd., acted as the resource person for the day. The main objective of the event is to create an awareness on the Opportunities in the Gaming Industry of recent times. He insisted that Gaming is not only one of the India’s fastest growing markets but also a popular career path for a large team of youth of varied educational backgrounds. Specialists of game art are in high demand all over the world.One needs to be skilled and insightful to make it a full-time lucrative career. However, the gaming industry is vast and has lot of offers in terms of stable career opportunities. He concluded that the students should look for the best career options that suits them and make use of the gaming industry which is full of opportunities.

The Program ended fruitfully and totally 81 students were benefitted through this program.

INFOTAINMENT 2K22

Department of Networking conducted Infotainment Association Meet on 22.09.2022. It is organized by III Year B.Sc NETWORKING students. The session started with the prayer song. K.Lakshmi Priya, II B.Sc NETWORKING, welcomed the gathering. Our Principal,          Dr. R. Sujatha, inaugurated the meet with her wonderful speech, Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal and Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics, gave wonderful speech for the students. The Head of the Department, Mr. M. Athigopal, introduced the Guest of Honor Mr. M. Sasikumar, NOC Engineer, Incident Management | Tata Communications Limited and Mr. S. Balamurugan Senior Analyst | HCL Technologies, Madurai. Our Chief Guest delivered an inspirational speech, which motivated the students. He highlighted the impact of working technically and shared his experience in several IT industries and also interacted with the students regarding their carrier growth. The students cleared their queries during their interaction.

The students of II & III year B.Sc. Networking conducted game events for the I Year students. The students exposed their talents through various events and got prizes. The Vote of thanks was given by Praveenkumar .T of II B.Sc Networking and the meet ended with the National Anthem.

SLCS Samaaj Seva – “Outreach Activity observing International Day of Peace”.

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, conducted an Outreach Activity observing International Day of Peace on 21.09.2022. The students of BBA visited Gandhi Museum, Madurai and prepared posters on “Bringing Peace around the world”. They promoted and distributed Quotes on Peace to the visitors of Gandhi Museum. They explained the importance of peace and the ways to bring peace for the development of the country. The Secretary of Gandhi Museum appreciated the students for their participation on International Day of Peace. Totally, 7 students of I BBA participated in the outreach activity.

Outreach program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through “Explaining the Importance of Nutrition in food to school students”

                       FAGAS Association, Department of Food Science and Processing Management, organized an Outreach program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through Explaining the Importance of Nutrition in food  to school students” on 21.09.2022 at Avaniyapuram. Our students briefly emphasized the importance of Nutrition in food and explained the importance of healthy eating practices among the school students. In addition, students created awareness on the important dietary practices to be followed in daily life. Totally, 13 students participated and 17 school students got benefited from this activity.
