Seminar on “Entrepreneurship: Growth Engine of Economy”

ZEAL, BBA Association, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai had organized a seminar on “Entrepreneurship: Growth engine of economy” on 15.02.2019. The resource person was Mr.K.Thirupathi Rajan, Chairman, Export Promotion Centre. The resource person highlighted the various opportunities available in entrepreneurship and the methodologies to be adopted towards successful entrepreneurship. Totally 41 students got benefited through this program.

National Conference on “Food Processing and Safety Management”

The department of Food Science and Processing Management conducted a National level Conference on Food Processing and Safety Management on 15.2.2019. The conference commenced with inaugural function and lamp lighting at 10.00 am. Dr. P. Saravanan, Principal of SLCS delivered the Presidential address. Dr. K. Amrutha veena, Head of the Department delivered the overview of the conference. Technical sessions were conducted by Mr. K. Vatcharavelu from CSIR-CFTRI and Dr. S. Sugasri from Madurai Kamaraj University. The conference received a total of 130 participants and 38 paper presentations. These papers shall be shortly published in the International Journal of Research and Analytical Reviews with an impact factor of 5.7 which has been provided with UGC citation, ISSN and Google citation. The conference received many papers from different colleges in Madurai along with other colleges in Dindigul, Coimbatore, Trichy, Salem and Pondichery. Papers were also received from overseas for presentation in the conference. These papers have covered different thrust areas in food science, processing, marketing, logistic management, catering, food safety, analysis, product development, and so forth.

25th Annual Day

The 25th Annual Day of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science & RL Institute of Management Studies was celebrated on 9th February 2019 at the College premises in a grand manner.

The President of the college, Dr.R.Lakshmipathy presided over the function. CA.S.Santhanakrishnan, Founder Partner, PKF Sridhar & Santhanam LLP, Chennai was the Chief Guest. Dr. R.L.Ramasubbu, Secretary and Mr.R.Ramkumar, Management Executive, were felicitated the programme.

Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal, SLCS presented the Annual report of the college for the Academic Year 2018- 19 and Dr.S.Pugalanthi, Deputy Director RLIMS presented the annual report of RLIMS for the year 2018-19.

The Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest to the students for Proficiency in Academics, Best Outgoing students, Academic Achievers and for the winners of various competitions.

Activity Based Learning

ZEAL, BBA Association had organized a series of activity based learning sessions for its students on 05.02.2019. Students were motivated to participate in Role Plays, Dumb Charade & management games. The students had a great learning experience.

Seminar on construction of Questionnaire

ZEAL, BBA Association had organized a “Seminar on construction of Questionnaire” for its students on 04.02.2019. Mr.S.M.Kaarthikeyan, an advanced learner from final year BBA served as the resource person. The students felt the session to be very informative and useful, as it will help them to undertake a research activity.

Industrial Visit

B.Sc Networking I and II year students visited the Flextronics Technologies (india) Private Limited, Chennai on 2nd Feb, 2019. In that company, there are two units such as Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) and Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The DTA produce and sell goods for domestic market, SEZ manufactured and export for the international market.The company allowed our student to visit DTA. Our students have acquired knowledge about the assembling of mobile phones namely honor 8c, Redmi, Jio, and its components. They explained about the various stages of assembling the mobiles, and advised the students to wear apron (Safety dress) and Electrostatic Discharge Slippers for the safety purpose. After compilation process, the mobile phone, will go for installation of the software and applications. It will take eight hours for the mobile phone to get ready for use. Each and every step is monitored by the employees. They gave instruction to the students about the manufacturing process given instruction to the students safety and grouped the students into various batches. Each batch session was handled by a technical trainer and a faculty member. They have explained the manufacturing process step by step and clarified the student’s doubts. At the end of session, they have provided an interactive session to the students with their technical team. The program was useful to the students and appreciated by the company.

Safety Audit Training

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety has organized a five days training program on Safety audit for the students of Fire & Industrial Safety from 28/01/2019 to 01/02/2019. Mr.Saravana kumar lead auditor of Prevention Pro India Limited was the Resource person for the programme. He explained clearly about the need for the safety audit and the auditing techniques. He also gave useful tips for the Final year students for their career and Higher education. At the end of the programme a mock interview arranged for the final year students. The students of F&IS felt very happy for arranging an useful training program which will help them to build the career.

Class Committee Meeting

Department of Animation conducted Class Committee meeting for the students of IInd Animation on 28.01.2019 at Animation Academic Lab – 02.The Head of the Department Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu presided over the meeting, All the faculty members and Students of IInd Animation were the members.

Students’ Project

The 2nd year M.sc Visual communication students finished their Television production shooting on 25 Jan 2019. They have done a game show called ‘Game Over’.  Six students from the college participated as three different team. The show had three rounds. Different students had taken the in charge of   different responsibilities of television productions like writer, program producer, Lighting director, operative cameraman, online editor, sound engineer and floor manager. Winners have rewarded with the cash prize.
