A seminar on “RECENT TRENDS IN BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION” in environment was conducted in Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science on 20th November, 2015. Environmental educator Prof.S.S.Davidson gave his lecture to the students. He insisted the students that every human should safe guard the forests, since now and then we get the food, water, fresh air, fuel etc from the forests. He also explained that the wealth of the forests depend on the animals and birds living there. He put the responsibility towards the students to protect it by not destroying. He informed that as per the statistics, India has only 13 percent of forests in it. In order to have a prosperous country, it should have at least one-third of forests in its land area. Now-a-days, many important steps have been taken to protect the forests like modern technology, forest management, organic bank for wild animals’ cell, to migrate the tribal people from the forests to nearby villages, planting saplings in the cities, protecting the rivers and its water resources etc. This seminar has been arranged by Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and SCOTT Christian College alumni association.
