The Department of Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning)conducted a Value-Added Course on Python Programming for the studentsof I B.Sc CS(AI & ML) from 12/10/2026 to 16/10/2026 to familiarize them with the essential principles of computer programming and strengthen their practical computing abilities. The programme was intended to develop students’ understanding of programming logic and provide them with the basic skills required to create simple applications using Python. The course introduced students to the Python programming environment, its syntax, keywords, indentation, and the execution of basic programs. Students learned how to declare variables, work with different data types, use arithmetic and logical operators, and perform input and output operations. The sessions also covered conditional statements for decision-making and looping constructs for repetitive tasks. Special attention was given to the use of lists and dictionaries for data organization, string operations for text processing, and user-defined functions for modular programming. Students were also introduced to basic error identification, debugging techniques, and exception handling to improve the reliability of their programs. The practical component of the course encouraged students to develop small programs based on simple real-life problems, such as performing mathematical calculations, checking conditions, generating sequences, manipulating strings, and processing collections of data. Through guided coding exercises, students gained experience in identifying errors, correcting program logic, and obtaining the expected output. These activities helped bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application. The course enabled the participating students to acquire essential programming knowledge and improve their confidence in approaching computational problems systematically. It also fostered creativity, analytical thinking, self-learning, and an interest in exploring advanced programming concepts. The successful conduct of the Value-Added Course enriched the students’ learning experience beyond the prescribed curriculum and supported their skill enhancement and academic enrichment. Totally 43 students attended the training and get benefitted.
