As part of the academic enrichment initiatives, the Department of Commerce (Honours) – ACCA organized a Seminar on “Financial Leadership in the AI Era” for the II and III Year ACCA students under the banner of the Royal Charter Association on 31.07.2026 at Chera Hall, SLCS Main Block. The
programme aimed to enhance students understanding of the role of Artificial Intelligence in finance, accounting, and business leadership. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. D. Selvaraj, Head of the Department, who highlighted the growing importance of AI in the finance
profession. The resource person delivered an insightful presentation on AI-driven financial leadership, accounting practices, and emerging career opportunities. A key highlight of the session was a live demonstration of AI-powered prompt engineering integrated with Microsoft Excel, showcasing how AI can automate calculations, generate reports, analyze data, and improve decision-making through simple prompts. The speaker also emphasized the importance of developing AI literacy, critical thinking, and data
analytical skills to meet the evolving expectations of the finance industry. Students gained practical exposure to the latest AI tools and understood their applications in accounting, auditing, and financial analysis. The session inspired participants to explore innovative technologies and prepare themselves for future career opportunities in the digital finance ecosystem. The seminar was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and clarifying their queries on AI applications in finance. The
programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the faculty coordinator. Overall, the seminar provided valuable practical insights into AI-enabled financial technologies and motivated students to develop the digital skills required for the future of the finance profession.
