The Department of Commerce (Banking & Insurance) & Department of B.Com (Computer Application and FinTech) organized an Alumni Interaction Session on 30 June 2026 at Chola Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The session was conducted by Mr. Prakash, an alumnus of the 2014–2017 batches, and Ms. C. Abinaya, an alumna of the 2020–2023
batch.
The programme was organized for the first-year B&I students to provide valuable insights into the Diploma in Banking and Finance (DBF), its curriculum, the courses offered, and the diverse career opportunities available in the banking and finance sector. The speakers shared their academic experiences and professional journeys, motivating students to enhance their knowledge and career readiness.A total of 125 students from the first and third years participated in and benefited from the interactive session.
Alumni Interaction Life of a Food Product Developer
Department of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Alumni Cell jointly Organized an Alumni Interaction session on “From Kitchen to Carton: Life of a Food Product Developer” for the students of I N&D on 30 June 2026 in our college premises. Ms. K.M. Kanmani (Batch: 2020-2023) acted as the speaker for the session. The alumni briefed on the challenges in the food product development. She highlighted the essential role of R&D Associate, QA Executive and better employment opportunities
for student in the Research and Development. The alumni also interacted with the students and gave career paths available to Nutrition and Dietetics graduates. Finally, valuable guidance was given personally to the students who interacted after the discussion. Totally, 10 students participated in this interactive session.
TRAINING and PLACEMENT CELL by Tamilnad Mercantile Bank
A campus recruitment drive for the position of Business Development Executive was conducted by Tamilnad Mercantile Bank on 03.07.2026 for students of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS) and R.L. Institute of Management Studies (RL IMS). The compensation for the role was 3 LPA.
As part of the recruitment process, Mr. Dharanidharan K from TVS Training and Services delivered an informative pre-placement talk. He provided students with valuable insights into the role of a Business Development Executive, career growth opportunities in the banking sector, and the expectations of recruiters. His session also focused on interview preparation, communication skills, and professional etiquette, helping students gain confidence before the selection process. Following the pre-placement session, Mr. Dharanidharan K conducted the preliminary screening of the registered candidates.
From Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, a total of 8 students registered for the drive, and 1 student (Mr Visnu M, B.Com (B&I), 2026) was shortlisted for the main interview.
From R.L. Institute of Management Studies, 2 students registered, and 1 student (Mr Rajesh Kumar, MBA, 2026) was shortlisted for the main interview.
The recruitment drive offered students an excellent opportunity to explore career prospects in the banking industry. Career Guidance Program cum Alumni Interaction on “Hospitality Job Opportunities in the Cargo Shipping Industry”
The Department of Marine Catering & Hotel Management organized a Career Guidance Program cum Alumni Interaction on 30 June 2026 for the first-year students on the topic “Hospitality Job Opportunities in the Cargo Shipping Industry”. Totally 75 students actively participated in this event. Mr. Aravindha Samy, Chief Cook, Fleet Management Pvt, Mumbai, an alumnus of the 2014–2017 batch, shared his experience in the cargo shipping and hospitality industries. He explained the duties and responsibilities of a General Steward, the documents required to join a ship, and the sign-on and sign-off procedures. He also discussed safety drill practices and the contract period followed in the shipping industry. The session was informative and motivated the students to explore career opportunities in the maritime hospitality sector.
CS (SSS) ALUMNI INTERACTION
The Department of Cyber Security organized an Alumni Talk on "Future Enhancements in Cyber Security" on 30.6.2026 at F23 with the objective of exposing students to the latest advancements in cyber security technologies and the significance of feature enhancement in intelligent security systems.
The session was conducted by Ms. S.Devadharshini (2023 BATCH), an accomplished alumnus of the department and a Software Developer at Auro itec, Madurai. The speaker shared valuable industry experiences and explained how feature enhancement techniques are applied in cyber security to improve the detection and prevention of sophisticated cyber
threats.
The talk focused on the role of future enhancements in data preprocessing and machine learning models used for cyber security applications. The speaker discussed methods for extracting meaningful information from network traffic, system logs, and user behaviour data to enhance the efficiency of intrusion detection systems, malware classification,
ransomware detection, and fraud prevention.
An engaging interactive session followed the presentation, during which students discussed career opportunities, professional certifications, internships, and research prospects in cyber security. The speaker encouraged participants to strengthen their programming, analytical, and problem-solving skills while actively participating in hands-on projects and
cybersecurity competitions.
The Alumni Talk was highly informative and enriched students understanding of the practical applications of feature enhancement in cyber security. The session successfully connected academic concepts with real-world industry practices, inspiring students to develop advanced technical skills and contribute to building secure digital environments.
ROYAL CHARTER ASSOCIATION Alumni Interaction Program
As part of the academic and career development initiatives of the Department of Commerce (Honours) – ACCA, an Alumni Interaction Program was organized on 30.06.2026 at Pallava Hall for the I Year and III Year Students. The programme aimed to provide students with valuable guidance on the ACCA qualification, examination preparation, and career opportunities through interaction with an alumnus of the department.
The session began with a warm welcome and introduction of the guest speaker, ACCA Mr. S. Vignesh, ACCA Affiliate, an esteemed alumnus of the 2022–2025 batch. During the program, he shared his academic journey and experiences in pursuing ACCA, and explained the various opportunities available through the ACCA qualification in the fields of accounting, finance,
auditing, and taxation.
As part of the session, Mr. S. Vignesh presented a PowerPoint presentation and explained the important aspects of the ACCA platform, examination structure, and preparation strategies. He shared several key points to help students clear the ACCA examinations successfully, including the importance of conceptual understanding, regular practice, time management, revision
techniques, and the effective use of study resources. He also encouraged students to stay focused, disciplined, and consistent in their preparation.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating and clarifying their doubts regarding ACCA papers, study methods, and career prospects. A total of 70 students and 2 faculty members attended the programme. Overall, the programme was informative, motivating, and beneficial, as it gave students a clear understanding of the ACCA journey and
inspired them to prepare confidently for their professional future.
Networking (CC) Fresher’s Day
The program commenced with a welcome address by the faculty coordinator, who greeted the freshers and emphasized the importance of academic excellence, discipline, and active participation in departmental activities. Faculty members introduced themselves and briefed the students about the curriculum, learning opportunities, laboratory facilities, certifications, and career prospects in the field of networking and cloud computing. An interactive session was conducted to help the fresher’s become familiar with the department, faculty, and their seniors. The event also included fun ice-breaking activities and games that encouraged students to interact with one another, helping them build confidence and develop a sense of belonging. The seniors shared their experiences, offered guidance on academics and campus life, and motivated the newcomers to make the most of the opportunities available during their course. The session concluded with words of encouragement and best wishes for the students successful academic journey. Totally 15 students of B.Sc. Networking in the 1st year has been participated in happily on 2.7.2026 (Thursday) in F3 Hall.

Alumni Interaction Session (2026–27) on 30.06.2026
As part of the academic and career awareness initiatives, the Department of Commerce (Honours) organized an Alumni Interaction Session for the first and third year students by the CA Nexus Association to provide insights into career opportunities in the commerce and banking sectors. The session commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. D. Selvaraj, Head of the Department, who introduced the guest speaker, Mr. K. Raghubarathi, Branch Manager, Equitas Bank, Pudur Branch, Madurai, and an esteemed alumnus of the 2018–2021 batch. During the session, the alumnus shared his inspiring journey from being a student of the department to becoming a successful banking professional. He highlighted the vast career opportunities available in the banking and financial services sector and explained the diverse career options that Commerce graduates can pursue.
He also guided students on effective preparation strategies for banking recruitment examinations and emphasized the importance of developing communication skills, aptitude, time management, and a habit of continuous learning. Furthermore, he encouraged students to make the best use of their college life by actively participating in academic and co-curricular activities, acquiring industry-relevant skills, and preparing themselves for future career opportunities. The session was highly interactive, with first-year students actively raising questions related to banking careers, competitive examinations, and higher education. Mr. K. Raghubarathi addressed their queries with practical insights and motivated them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to achieving their professional goals. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the faculty coordinator, expressing gratitude to the alumnus for sharing his valuable experiences and inspiring the students. Around 90 students participated in the session, making it an informative, engaging, and motivating learning experience that significantly contributed to the department's student development initiatives.

The Department of Networking conducted an Alumni Interaction Session on 30/06/2026 for the students of I st and 3 rd Year B.Sc Networking. The session featured our alumnus Mr.P.Prasanna Kumar B.Sc Networking (2017–2020 batch), who is currently working as a freelancer for Bizcollab 360 Madurai, as the chief guest. During the interaction, he shared his academic experiences, higher studies opportunities, and valuable guidance for building a successful career in the field of IT Companies. The students actively participated in the session by raising various queries related to higher education and career prospects. The interaction was informative and motivating for the participants. A total of 44 students attended and benefited
from the session.
CA NEXUS ASSOCIATION CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT DAY CELEBRATION ON 01.07.2026

The Department of Commerce (Honours), under the aegis of the CA NEXUS Association, organized the Chartered Accountant Day Celebration for II and III Year students on 01.07.2026 at the TVR Seminar Hall, SLCS Block, with the objective of creating academic and career awareness about the Chartered Accountancy profession. The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the resource person, CA.A.A. Jayachandran, Chartered Accountant, Madurai, who delivered an insightful and engaging session on the significance of Chartered Accountant Day and the vital role of Chartered Accountants in the evolving business and financial environment. The speaker highlighted the diverse career opportunities available in the field of Chartered Accountancy, the importance of professional ethics, continuous learning, and the skills required to succeed in the
profession.
The session also emphasized the growing demand for finance professionals in the contemporary corporate world and encouraged students to pursue professional qualifications alongside their academic studies. An interactive question-and-answer session enabled students to clarify their doubts regarding the CA course, examination process, career prospects, and industry expectations.
