Value Added Course on “Financial Operating Statements: Analysis and Interpretation for Financial Management”

The Department of B.Com (Honours) – ACCA conducted a Value Added Course on “Financial
Operating Statements: Analysis and Interpretation for Financial Management” from 21.09.2026 to
26.09.2026 at Hall No. S1, Subbalakshmi Block, SLCS, for the III Year B.Com (Hons)–ACCA
students. The sessions were handled by ACCA Akilandeswari R, International Skill Development
Corporation (ISDC), Bangalore. The primary objective of the course was to provide students with in-
depth knowledge and practical exposure to the analysis and interpretation of financial operating
statements for effective financial management and business decision-making. The sessions focused
on developing students’ understanding of financial performance, interpretation of financial
information, and application of financial analysis techniques in practical business situations. The
course aimed to equip students with practical knowledge and analytical skills in understanding
income statements, cash flow statements, cost and revenue analysis, financial performance
indicators, and key financial ratios. The sessions also helped students understand how financial
information can be analysed and interpreted to support managerial decision-making and assess the
financial health and performance of business organisations. The course was highly useful and
provided students with valuable insights into financial statement analysis and financial management
practices. Students actively participated in the sessions and gained practical exposure to analysing
financial information and applying their knowledge in business decision-making.
A total of 23 students actively participated in the programme and benefited from the knowledge,
guidance, and practical insights shared by the resource person.

Technofest Association Meeting 2

The Department Association of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) The Techno Fest Association Meeting was conducted on 26th September, 2026 from 12:40 PM to 1:30 PM with the active participation of the students. The meeting was organized to provide students with an opportunity to showcase their presentation skills, creativity, communication abilities, and technical knowledge.

The programme commenced with compering by Tharika and Joyal, followed by a silent prayer. The welcome address was delivered by Dhurka, formally welcoming the faculty members and students to the association meeting.

A series of PowerPoint presentations were delivered by the students. Mayuri and Muthupriya presented the first PPT, followed by Chandru and Dharunesh, Devaraj and Harish Kumar, Tharika and Safiya, and Harideva and Suresh. The presentations provided students with a platform to share their ideas and enhance their confidence in public speaking and presentation.A video presentation highlighting the previous association meeting was also screened as part of the programme. This provided a brief reflection of the activities and events conducted during the earlier association meeting.

The programme also included a speech by Charumathi and Jeyachithra, students of the third year, which added further value to the session. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Harideva, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.Overall, the Techno Fest Association Meeting was successfully conducted and served as a valuable platform for students to develop their communication, presentation, teamwork, creativity, and leadership skills.

INTER- COLLEGIATE-International Conference REPORT

The Department of Commerce students participated in the International Conference
on AI-Revolution: Redefining Commerce, Education & Healthcare, organized by Fathima
College, Madurai on August 5, 2026. A total of 10 students from III Year B.Com (Banking &
Insurance) presented papers and received certificates. The participants were:

Peer Teaching Session on “Human Rights and the Indian Constitution Report

On August 07, 2026, the Department of Commerce (Banking and Insurance) organized a Peer Teaching Session on “Human Rights and the Indian Constitution,” led by Ms. Mahalakshmi M, a student of II B.Com (Banking and Insurance). The session provided students with a comprehensive understanding of human rights, their fundamental characteristics, different types, and their significance in the Indian constitutional framework. Through relevant examples and case studies, Ms. Mahalakshmi M explained the practical importance of human rights and highlighted the rights and responsibilities of individuals in society. The peer-to-peer teaching approach created an interactive and engaging learning environment, enabling students to participate actively and gain a better understanding of the topic. The session successfully enhanced I Banking and Insurance students’ knowledge of human rights and their relevance in both personal and professional life.

From Research Idea to Quality Publication: A Bird’s Eye View

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in association with the Department of English, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS), Madurai, organised a seminar titled “From Research Idea to Quality Publication: A Bird’s Eye View” on 26 September 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at Pallava Hall (F10).

The seminar focused on providing faculty members and research scholars with a broad understanding of the journey from developing a research idea to producing a quality scholarly publication. The programme aimed to create awareness about the essential stages of research and publication and to encourage faculty members, particularly those beginning or pursuing research, to approach academic publishing systematically.

Dr. S. Priya, Associate Professor-cum-Dean, SLCS, and Dr. T. Guru Baskar, Vice Principal, SLCS, graced the occasion as the Chief Guests. Their presence added academic significance to the programme and encouraged the participants to engage actively with research and scholarly communication.

The seminar served as a platform for participants to gain a broader perspective on research ideation, developing research questions, conducting meaningful research, and progressing towards quality publication. It also emphasised the importance of building a sustained research culture within higher education institutions.

The programme concluded with an academic spirit of collaboration and learning, reinforcing the message that a strong research idea, when developed systematically, can evolve into meaningful and quality scholarly work.

VALUE ADDED COURSE – Digital Marketing

  1. The Department of Commerce (Banking and Insurance) organized a Value Added Course on “Digital Marketing” for the Third-Year B.Com-Banking and Insurance students from 21.09.2026 to 25.09.2026 at 9.00 a.m. in the TVR Hall.

The course was conducted with certification from TN Apex Skill Development Centre for Logistics, with the objective of enhancing students’ knowledge and practical skills in the field of digital marketing. The programme was designed to provide students with an understanding of contemporary digital marketing practices and their applications in business.

The sessions were handled by Mr. M. Christopher Gnanaraj, Senior Corporate Trainer, Soft Skills and Verbal/Business Communication Specialist, Coimbatore. He provided valuable insights into various aspects of digital marketing and emphasized the importance of effective communication and digital skills for professional development.

The course covered important areas related to digital marketing, including digital marketing concepts, online marketing strategies, social media marketing, content creation, digital communication, branding, and customer engagement. The sessions included interactive discussions and practical-oriented activities, enabling students to relate the concepts to real-world business situations.

The programme provided students with an opportunity to develop their digital marketing knowledge, communication skills, creativity, and employability skills. The certification associated with the course also supported students in strengthening their professional profiles and career readiness.

The Value Added Course was successfully completed on 25.09.2026, and the students actively participated throughout the programme. The course contributed significantly to enhancing students’ practical understanding of digital marketing and preparing them for the changing requirements of the business and employment environment.

Outcome of the Programme

    • Students gained a basic understanding of Digital Marketing concepts, tools, and strategies. 
    • Students developed practical knowledge of Social Media Marketing, Content Marketing, and Online Promotion. 
    • Students enhanced their digital communication and business communication skills.

  • The certification from TN Apex Skill Development Centre for Logistics provided students with an additional skill credential to support their future career opportunities.

EDR and Agentic AI in Cyber Security

 

The Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) organized a Value Added Course on “EDR and Agentic AI in Cyber Security” for the students of III B.Sc. Computer Science (SSS), Batch 2024–2027, during the academic year 2026–2027. The course was conducted to provide students with practical knowledge and industry-oriented awareness of modern cybersecurity technologies, particularly Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Agentic Artificial Intelligence. The sessions were handled by Mr. Gowri Shankar Palanisamy, Director, Hack Up Technology, Coimbatore, who shared his valuable industry experience and expertise with the students.

During the course, students were introduced to the fundamental concepts of EDR and its importance in modern cybersecurity. They learned how EDR solutions continuously monitor endpoint activities, identify suspicious behaviour, detect security threats, and support security teams in responding to cyber incidents. The sessions enhanced students’ understanding of endpoint security, threat detection, incident investigation, and response mechanisms.

Practical explanations and industry-oriented examples helped students understand the application of EDR technologies and AI-based security mechanisms in real-world cybersecurity environments. The importance of continuous monitoring, threat analysis, automated detection, and timely response in protecting organizational systems and endpoints was emphasized.

Overall, the Value Added Course was highly informative and beneficial to the students. It enhanced their understanding of EDR, AI-based threat detection, and Agentic AI applications in cybersecurity. The interactive sessions and practical industry insights provided valuable exposure to modern cybersecurity practices, emerging AI technologies, and career opportunities in the cybersecurity domain.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

The Department of Networking (CC) conducted a Value-Added Course on “Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)” for the III B.Sc. Networking students from 21.09.2026 to 25.09.2026 in the Windows Server Lab. The sessions were handled by Mr. P. Arish, Technical Trainer, Vectra Technologies. The CCNA course covers a wide range of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies. It provides a strong foundation in areas such as network infrastructure, routing and switching, network security, wireless networking, and other essential networking concepts. The course equips students with a comprehensive understanding of networking principles and best practices. A total of 34 students participated in the course.
