WORKSHOP ON “PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY”

The Medius Coronet Association of Visual Communication Department conducted a workshop Portrait Photography for its students on 30.03.2022. Totally 22 students (I B.Sc-09, II B.Sc-13, I M.Sc-01) participated in the event. Mr. Thivakaran M S, an alumnus, gave a lecture on Portrait Photography techniques. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Head Incharge, Department of Visual Communication, delivered the key note address.

Portrait Photography was the topic of the session. Mr. Thivakaran M S gave an illuminating lecture on new technologies in camera and Lighting. The session was very beneficial to the students. They enthusiastically participated in this event and asked technical oriented questions, which were answered by the guest. Ms. Anushka GJ from    I B.Sc Visual Communication proposed the vote of thanks. The program was a grand success.

Report of Cultural Heritage of India

Cultural Heritage of India was introduced as an extra credit course in the academic year 2021-22 for the 2020-23 batch students. It was resourced by DHAN Foundation, a leading National Professional NGO, who handled the session for 15 hours. It was conducted on 18th December of 2021 and, 26th February ,5th ,12th & 26th of March 2022. The topics covered were Society State and Policy in India, Indian Literature, Culture, Tradition, and Practices, Indian Religion, Philosophy and Practice, Cultural Heritage and Performing Arts and Science Management and Indian Knowledge System. The objective of the course is to make the students explore native aspects of knowledge and not only harmonies their way of life but also bring about Moral and Material development of India. It also aims to infuse interest in the students to understand native literature, religion, philosophy and cultural heritage. A total number of 259 students participated and benefitted with a certificate of completion. An extra credit of one is awarded to students who fulfill the criteria of attendance, assignments and online test at the end of the Program. A feedback was also collected.

Training program on “5S practices”

ZEAL, BBA Association of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a training program on “5S practices” on 30.03.2022 for the non teaching staff of the college. Dr.B.Meenakshi Sundaram, AP,Department of  BBA was the resource person. Ms.S.Nishalakshmi,  a student of I BBA joined him as a co-trainer. He explained in detail the various strategies and processes needed for 5S training. The participants found the training program to be very lively and interesting. A total of 21 staff members participated and got benefited in this program.

SLCS- Samaaj Seva – an outreach Program on – “Share the Meal” – Donate the Food to the School children, Surabhi Trust, Kariapatti.

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an outreach Program (SLCS- Samaaj Seva) on – -Share the Meal” – Donate Food to the School children, at Surabhi Trust, Kariyapatti on 30.3.22. Marine Catering and Hotel Management department faculty members and 15 students have prepared around 100 packs of food and served to the school children who are living there. Trust managers conveyed their sincere thanks to the college management, faculty members and students who contributed food items for the school children.

ALUMNI INTERACTION

On 30.03.2022, an alumni of Networking Department, Mr.CM.Kishore Ravi, Network Engineer, Gavs TechnologyChennai and Ms.M.Janani (Batch: 2016 – 2019) interacted with the students of II B.Sc Networking & I B.Sc Networking. They advised the students to complete certification courses and also insisted to prepare for the interview during the college days itself. They enlightened the students on current IT technologies like Azure, AWS and availability of job opportunities in IT & Networking domains. They enlightened the students on the skills required to become a Network administrator and also Cloud Solution Architect.Overall 27 students got benefitted and clarified their queries during this interactive session.

Extension Activity SLCS (Samajseva) through “Usage of Natural dyes for fabrics”

FAGAS an Association from the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an extension activity at Kaithari Nagar entitled Usage of Natural dyes for fabrics to the weavers on 29.3.2022.  The students of I Year FSPM educated the weavers by interacting with them on the use and benefits of natural dyes.  They insisted that the natural dyes are eco-friendly, biodegradable, renewable and have extend shelf life. The woven fabrics will be brighter and stronger in comparison to artificial dyes. Totally 13 students of FSPM participated in this extension activity.

Faculty Participation: BRIDGE 2022

Our department faculty Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Participated in the BRIDGE 2022, an event organized by ICT Academy of Tamilnadu, on 28th March, 2022 at Nagercoil, on the theme “A high impact industry institute interaction”. Thiru T. Mano Thangaraj,Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Government of Tamil Nadu, was the chief guest. The event focused on Bridging Skill Gapfor Better Employment, Identifying New Generation Workforce, and Industrial Partnership for Talent Development, Future-Ready Skills Roadmap, and Recruitment Trends.

SLCS SamaajSeva -“Awareness on Savings Scheme”

SLCS SamaajSeva – an extension activity on “Awareness on Savings Scheme”was organised by the “Lakshya” the Department Association of MBA Program on 26th March 2022, at 10.30 am  at Eliyapathi village to create awareness on “Learning and comprehending various aspects of the State &the Central Govt. Savings Schemes” to the  village people. 4 I-MBA students organised this activity under the guidance of Dr S Sekar & Dr D Abraham Pradeep. Totally25 people from Eliyapathi got benefitted through this SLCS SamaajSeva.

Outreach Program (SLCS – SAMAAJ SEVA) -Awareness on women discrimination in cinema

The Department of Visual communication conducted an extension activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva)for Saamam NGO women self-help group in Kaariyappatti on 26.03.2022. Ms. Catherin Esther Roselin along with three students took part in it and gave a lecture on women discrimination in cinema. The people in the self-help group found the session very useful. Totally 40 women participants benefitted through this program.
