Heritage For All – The World Heritage Day Celebration

The “Pinnacle Association” of The Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organised the World Heritage Day Celebration (Heritage For All) on 18.04.2022 to raise awareness among the students about preserving our heritage sites and also to enrich the knowledge on the contribution of heritage places to country’s economy and trade. To make this event purposeful and memorable, the students were taken for Heritage visit to TIRUMALAI NAYAKAR MAHAL, Madurai to explore more about the economy and trade around the heritage places in India and across the globe. The day ended with an interesting video showcasing on seven wonderful and famous heritage sites of the world. Totally, 24 students and 1 Faculty participated in the event and got benefitted.

SLCS Outreach (SLCS Samaaj seva) Programme -“ Traffic Awareness ”

SLCS SamaajSeva – an outreach activity on “The Traffic Awareness” was organised by the “Lakshya”, the Department Association of MBA Program on 14th April 2022 at 10.30 am in Thiruparangundram – to create awareness on “Traffic Rules”. 28 first year MBA students organised this activity under the guidance of Dr S Sekar. Totally25 people from Thiruparangundram got benefitted through this SLCS SamaajSeva.

ADMINISTRATIVE TRAINING PROGRAM -“HOW TO USE SMART PHONES IN A SMART AND SAFE WAY”

The Department of Computer Science conducted a Administrative Training Program on “HOW TO USE SMART PHONES IN A SMART AND SAFE WAY?” for all the Non-Teaching and Administrative staff members on 13th, April 2022 at 03.00. p.m in F33 classroom. A total of 12 members participated in this event.The session started with a prayer. The welcome address was given by Mrs.G.Lavanya, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CS. The presidential address was given by Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal, SLCS. She stressed the importance of web browser security in daily activities. The felicitation address was given by Dr.S.Priya, Dean, SLCS, who motivated them to participate in various events.

The first technical session was handled by Mrs.S.Nirmala Devi, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CS. She explained about the Mobile security that how to use the smart phones in a safe manner. The second session was handled by Mrs.V.Gayathri, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CS. She explained the two step verification, Google Chrome security, Face book security and Whats App security features. Finally, the vote of thanks was given by Mrs.G.Lavanya, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CS.

Seminar on “Contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar towards Rights Jurisprudence to Indian Constitution”

The Consumer Awareness Club along with ZEAL, Department of BBA Association organized a Seminar on the topic “Contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar towards Rights Jurisprudence in Indian Constitution on 13.04.2022 (Wednesday). This day is celebrated to honor the Birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on 14.04.2022.

Dr. B. Muthukumar, Assistant Professor, Government Law College, Madurai was the Guest Speaker.

The Seminar started at 10.00 a.m. Dr. K. Rajesh Kumar, HoD , BBA welcomed the gatherings. The Guest speaker highlighted the significant contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Indian Constitution. He quoted numerous contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in framing the Indian Constitution particularly the Fundamental Rights of Indian Citizen. He also explained various rights of the consumer and the way for addressing the consumer grievances. Mr. B. Vairamuthu, Assistant Professor proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting came to an end by 12.30 p.m.

Totally 70 students comprising of I BBA (23), II BBA (29) and members of Consumer Awareness Club (18) were benefited by this programme.

SLCS SamaajSeva – an outreach activity on “The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005” was organised by the “Lakshya”, the Department Association of MBA Program on 13th April 2022 at 12.30 pm in Samam NGO,Kariyapatti – to create awareness on “State Govt’s Rural Employment scheme”. 22 first year MBA students organised this activity under the guidance of Prof  P Selvam. Totally25 people from Samam NGO got benefitted through this SLCS SamaajSeva.

Life of Entrepreneurship

The Department of Networking & Career Counselling Cell jointly organized a Career Guidance program on “Life of Entrepreneurship” on 13.04.2022 for the  I and II year students. Mr.M.Athigopal, Head, Dept. of Networking introduced the Chief Guest, Mr.Hari Prasath, Thanvi Technologies, Madurai. The Resource person shared his industry experience and the current technical knowledge needed to become an Entrepreneur.  He clarified all the queries raised by the students. This session was very useful for the students.  25 students were benefitted through this career guidance program.

26th and 27th SPORTS DAY

Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.

Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science celebrated its 26th and 27th sports day on 11-04-2022. To make our students more energetic and strong, the Department of Physical Education conducted a chain of sports events for boys and girls. An enthusiastic celebration for one whole month which includes various indoor and outdoor games selection rounds, semi-final rounds and final rounds were conducted. Students were selected for various houses like Challengers, rockers, Thrillers and Sparklers by the team captains and sports faculty coordinators. On the sports day, flags were hoisted in the college campus. The event started with a prayer song followed by a welcome address by Ms. S. Madhubala, II B.Sc Animation. Annual report for the academic year 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 was presented by Mr. D. Pandiarajan, Director of Physical Education. Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, delivered the Presidential Address and motivated the budding generation to excel in sports activities. Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal, delivered the Felicitation Address, and nurtured the students with a few health tips. Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics, gave the special address with her eloquent words. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, Assistant Professor cum Assistant Coordinator (IQAC) introduced the chief guest of the event The chief guest of the function Mr. M. Baskaran, Superintendent of Police, Civil Supplies, C.I.D, Madurai Zone, Madurai, gave a thought provoking speech which highly motivated the young minds and kindled the true sportsmanship among students, which was followed by an interactive session. The students were clarified their doubts on competitive exams, cyber forensics cases, and healthy eating habits. Students show cased their talents by performing Human Pyramid, Karate, Silambam, Instrumental music, Singing, Colour Saree Drill. The prizes for various events were distributed by the dignitaries. Totally 516 students have participated in event. Ms. K. Shahithya, II B.Sc., CS(SSS), Chairman of Students’ Forum proposed the vote of thanks.

Faculty Participation: Dakshin, South India Media & Entertainment Summit

Our department faculty members Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., and Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Asst. Prof., have participated in the Dakshin, South India Media & Entertainment Summit organized by Confederation of Indian Industry Southern Regionon 09th& 10th April 2022 at Chennai Trade Centre on the theme “Culturally Rooted, Creativity Global”.Thiru M K Stalin, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, was the Chief Guest. The objective of this summit is to bring together relevant stakeholders to celebrate achievements, share & learn from best practices and to network with peers for progression. Through keynote talks, panel discussions, knowledge sessions and exclusive plenary’s, this summit will lay the roadmap for the resurgence of the M&E sector.
