ANTI – RAGGING COMMITTEE

INTRODUCTION

The College has formed Anti Ragging Committee as per the UGC guidelines Ragging is the Supervisory and Advisory Committee in preserving a Culture of Ragging Free Environment in the college Campus. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in inside and / or outside the campus and anyone found guilty of ragging and or abetting ragging whether actively or passively, or being a part of conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished in accordance with UGC Regulations (No: UGCD – Rag/C/96(15)/SCHE/2009) circulated on April 13, 2009, ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, and anyone found guilty of ragging is liable to be punished in any one or more than one way mentioned below:

  • Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student;
  • Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student;
  • Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student;
  • Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher;
  • Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
  • Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students;
  • Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person;
  • Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, posts, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student;
  • Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.

OBJECTIVES

  • To prevent and protect the student community from being ragged or indulging in the act of ragging.
  • To bring awareness among the students about the ill effects of ragging, its impact on human life and consequences of involvement in the act of ragging.
  • To receive the complaints and resolve them through the Anti-Ragging Committee.
  • To initiate legal actions when required considering the intensity of ragging instances.

INTRODUCTION

Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) has been identified as the backward groups of Indian Society. They include all the castes, races or tribes, which have been socially, economically and educationally backward. The cell was started with the broad objective to bring these students into the main stream.

OBJECTIVES

  • Recognize meritorious students in academics and co-curricular activities by means of scholarships during the course of their academic pursuits in Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS).
  • Support deserving students in merit basis and who may have to opt out of pursuing higher education due to economic reasons.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL COMMITTEE

INTRODUCTION

The Cell has been functioning in accordance with the University Grants Commission regulations 2012 (The Gazette of India, March 23-29, 2013). The function of the Cell is to look into the complaints raised by any student and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the College. This Cell strives to solve students’ academic and administrative problems. Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the Cell Coordinator / Cell Members in person. In case the student is unwilling to appear in self, grievances may either be dropped in the Suggestion Box or they can email their grievance to the mail-id [_________].
