Extension Activity – Awareness program on Banking Scheme

The Department of Commerce – B.Com (B&I) organized an extension activity (SLCS-Samaj-Seva), “Awareness Program on Banking Schemes” on 26th January, 2022  at Nedumadurai . The students of the department created awareness on various banking schemes and the Current scenario, Functions and Roll of banking .Totally 10 students of II B.Com (B & I) were involved in this program under the guidance of the Head of the Department and nearly 20 people got benefitted by this program.

Extension activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through “Guidance on common health and hygiene practices during pandemic”

FAGAS an Association from the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an extension activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) through “Guidance on common health and hygiene practices during pandemic on 26.01.2022 at different places.  I Year FSPM gave a brief note on common health and hygienic practices among the people in the age group of 15-30 years. To create awareness the student provides one pamphlet to all the people. Totally 4 students actively participated and got benefited from this activity.

 

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA ON ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety & Hebert William Henrich Association jointly organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an extension activity on “ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS” at Paraipathi Tollgate & Valayankulam Tollgate on 25/01/2022.    Our Department faculty members Mr. A.Jaiveer Kumar & Mr. R. Brameshwaran along with III year students Mr. S.Kaviraj & Mr.P.Sabarinathan have conducted the activity. Totally 2 faculty members and 2 students participated in the event. They created awareness on Road Safety among the Auto mobile drivers and also insisted the people to wear Mask and Helmet while driving. This initiative created the awareness among the people to wear seatbelts and also to ensure safe road crossing by insisting the pedestrians to follow rules. During this activity students guided the civilians on importance of following the traffic signal. The focus was also given about the risk factors of drunken driving.

People who travel in unprofessional way were requested to use road safety measures and follow the traffic rules by giving them the Pamphlets indicating the Road safety rules.

The aim of this campaign is to emphasize and highlight about the need of Road Safety and to motivate citizens about the traffic rules. The Authorities and Staff members in Tollgate render their Cooperation & the involvement of the faculty and the students were commendable to reach out the maximum number of population in the society and by creating awareness.

NATIONAL VOTER’S DAY

The Electoral literacy club of SLCS commemorated the national voter’s day on 25.01.2022 by taking the pledge as follows.

“We, the citizens of India having, abiding faith in democracy, hereby pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any other inducement”.

Totally 15 faculty members participated.

Extension Activity- “Share the Meal” – Donated Food and Grocery to the Old age Home

On 25th  January, National Tourism Day was observed by the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management and organized SLCS-Samaaj Seva- an extension activity “Share the Meal” at Kaakkum Karangal for the care of Old age group, needy and poor people which is situated in Thirunagar, Madurai.

7 faculty members with 12 students visited the Old age home and served various meals to the senior citizens who are living there. Besides, the monthly groceries worth of Rs.7000 like Toor Dhal, Moong dhal, lentils,  Masoori, Urad dhal, Rice, Sugar, Tea packets, Papad, Dry lentil, Cooking oil, ground nut oil, Gingely oil, Garlic, Rawa, Atta, Millets etc,, were also provided to the them.

Faculty members and students actively involved in serving and feeding the people. A lot of humanity and humbleness was seen among the students involved in this noble cause. Students also interacted with the inmates there and were exposed to the various challenges of life. This activity gave lot of satisfaction to the faculty members and students in extending their services and made them realize the blessings of the elderly people.

WEBINAR ON DIGITAL LITERACY

The Internet club and Techie Quest club jointly celebrated the WORLD EDUCATION DAY on 24th January, 2022 and organized a WEBINAR ON DIGITAL LITERACY.  Mr.S.Bala Ganesh, Student Coordinator delivered the welcome address. Students of Internet club and Techie quest club participated in the session. Dr.S.Priya, Dean-Academics addressed the gathering. In her speech, she explained the importance and benefits of Open Education Resources (OER) for teaching-learning process. Further, she elaborated on creative commons and its usage. The session helped the students to learn creative works and educational access resources. Totally 44 students (21 students of Internet club and 23 students of Techie quest club) were benefitted by attending the session. Ms.S.R.Tharuni of I CS, delivered vote of thanks.    This interactive session was useful to the students.

A ONE DAY ONLINE INTERNATIONAL CAREER INTERACTION PROGRAM on the topic “TAKE YOUR PASSION TO THE NEXT LEVEL”

A One Day Online International Career Interaction Program on the topic “Take Your Passion to the Next Level” on 24.01.2022. The program was organised by Internal Quality Assurance Cell in association with Students’ Forum & Students’ Welfare Committee. Ms. Sudha Vetri, the Founder & CEO of Subscribili was the resource person. Ms. Sahithya, II B.Sc., Computer Science, Chairman of the Students’ Forum welcomed the gathering. Principal Dr. R. Sujatha, delivered the Presidential Address. Vice Principal Dr. K. Archunan and Dean-Academics Dr. S. Priya delivered the Felicitation Address. The IQAC Assistant Coordinator introduced the Resource Person to the Forum. Many students interacted with the resource person by posting their questions how to become a successful Entrepreneur. The resource person answered all the questions through her experience she has faced to reach such a position. All the students were able to clarify their doubts in order to proceed in their career through this program. Totally 60 students from various departments participated in the program. In honouring the resource person, an e-Memento was presented in the program. The IQAC Assistant Coordinator Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, proposed the Vote of Thanks.

SLCS Samaaj seva – EXTENSION ACTIVITY “SHIELD” – 2021

The Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science conducted an Extension Activity “SHIELD” on 24.01.2022 at Thiruparakundram, Madurai.  As a part of the activity, the public were reiterated regarding the spread of Omicron virus. They were advised to adhere to the precautionary measures strictly to prevent themselves from the spread of COVID. Mask and sanitizers were issued to them. The entire program was organized and implemented by the students under the guidance of the Head of the Department. Totally 50 people got benefitted by this extension activity. This activity made the public realize the importance of wearing mask and using sanitizers.

Webinar on “Introduction to DevOps”

Netkings, an Association of Networking Department organized a webinar on “Introduction to DevOps” on 24.01.2022.The program was started with the prayer. Ms.P.Susmitha,II Networking delivered the welcome address . Inaugural address was delivered by our Principal Dr.R.Sujatha and felicitation address was given by our Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan. Dr.S.Priya, Dean, Academics, delivered special address. Mr.M.Athigopal introduced the chief guest Mr.P.Sathish Kumar, IT Security Engineer, Orion Innovation, Chennai. He enlightened students on DevOps, DevOps Security tools and DevOps Database Administrator. He explained briefly the developments and operations of tools designed to increase an organization’s ability to the students. The chief guest also explained DevOps security tools available for security practices such as Codacy, Aqua Security, Whitesource, Burp Proxy, LogRhythm SIEM and CyberArk. The students who participated got an exposure which will be helpful for their employability. Totally 27 students from I & II Networking were benefited through this workshop.
