Student Achievement in ACCA Exam Paper

Mr. J.S.Sanjay, final year student of B.Com., (Hons’) ACCA, successfully passed the Knowledge level examination in ACCA course F7: Financial Reporting on September 2021. The result was announced from the ACCA (UK) on 18.10.2021. He also cleared 7 ACCA papers (6 exempted papers + 1 Non-exempted paper) successfully. His academic performance is highly appreciable and career guidance is continuously given by our Professors, Principal and Management of our esteemed Institution of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science. The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA appreciated the remarkable performance of Mr. J.S.Sanjay in the ACCA examination.

Workshop on Masking Techniques in UNITY

The II & III Year students and faculty team of Animation department attended a workshop on “Masking Techniques in UNITY” on 17.10.2021, Sunday between 02:00 PM and 04:00 PM through Google meet. The workshop was organized by IMSK, Chennai. The workshop provided the students with the Basics of Masking Techniques, the industry workflow and opportunities in the gaming industry. The trainer of the workshop was Mr.Prabhakar -from IMSK. The Students took part very actively in the workshop; and all the students gave positive feedback. Totally 75 students and 5 faculties participated in the workshop.

WORLD FOOD DAY CELEBRATION

To commemorate “World Food Day – 16th October, 2021” Culinary Club of Marine Catering Hotel Management & Health and Nutrition Club of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management celebrated the World Food Day on the theme of “Our Action and Our Future” through this link (https://meet.google.com/gwm-owtk-djg). Mr.R.Viswam, final year student, Dept. of MCHM welcomed the gathering. A special speech on World Food Day was given by Ms.Jegadeeswari of III B.Sc FSPM & Mr.Jeyasurya of III B.Sc MCHM. The main aim of this program was to enlighten the spirit of the World food Day. Various competitions like Quiz and Poster presentation were conducted for the students. They were motivated not to waste food highlighting the wastage of money and efforts which is not good for anyone. Ms.P.Harine of III B.Sc FSPM delivered a valedictory speech about the importance of World Food Day. Around 70 students of both the departments participated and got benefited in this program.  At the end of the session, feedback was collected from the students and the analysis showed that most of them were highly satisfied with this program.

Alumni interaction

Our Alumni   (2014-17 batch) Mr.Anand Rajah, Relationship  Manager, City Union Bank and Mr.Vignesh kumar   Manager, Axis Bank  interacted with  the students (80) of   I B.Com (B& I)  on    15.10.2021 . They spoke on the importance of licentiate and associate exam  and  other career opportunities in  Banking and Insurance companies . All the students  actively participated and gained more knowledge about career opportunities in Banking and insurance companies.

Inauguration and Celebration of A.P.J Abdul Kalam’s 90th Birthday

      The Inaugural function of Students Forum and an Observation of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam’s Birthday in the name of “Commemorating Kalam with Kalam” was Celebrated on 15 October, 2021 from  12.00PM- 1.00PM in the Seminar Hall. The Program began invoking the almighty.  The program hosted by II  Year BSc Computer Science  Student Ms. Shahithya  had a voracious response. Welcome address was delivered by II CS Student Ms.Yuvasri.  The college Principal     Dr. R. Sujatha delivered the Presidential address and introduced the Students’ Forum Chairman, Secretary and Joint Secretary. Vice Principal Dr. Archunan in his speech and encouraged the students with his motivating words. The Dean – Academics  Dr. Priya explained  the functioning of the forum and the teamwork and dedication that goes into the working together for the forum.

Second year BSc.Computer Science student Mr. Srivatsav remembered the life History of A.P.J Abdul Kalam and his Contribution on Missile Operation.

As a part of the celebration Quiz and Oath taking tasks were assigned to the faculty members and the students through Google Form. In total 189 students, and 17 faculty members participated and benefitted from the celebration.

Seminar on Managing Claims in Insurance Industry

The Department of Commerce (B&I) & MBA in Association with Career Counseling Cell of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and Madurai Insurance Institute jointly organized a Seminar on “Managing Claims in Insurance Industry” on 12.10.2021 in Auditorium

The inaugural session started with a Prayer and lighting of Kuthuvizhakku. Dr. M. Subramanian, Head of the Department of MBA welcomed the gathering. Respected Principal – Dr. R. Sujatha delivered the inaugural address. Honourable President Dr. R. Lakshmipathy Sir delivered the presidential address and Shri. L. Chendurnathan, Chairman of Madurai Insurance Institute delivered the felicitation address.

In the technical session, the Most Valued Chief Guests – Shri.K. Muralidharan (Rtd. Deputy Manager – Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd.) and  Shri. K.B. Vijay Srinivas  (Rtd. General Manager & Director – United India Insurance Co. Ltd.) shared their experience on claims management in both life insurance and non-life insurance business. More than three hundred and ten participants were benefited through this seminar.

Learned Dean – Academics – Dr. S. Priya  delivered the Valedictory Address.

Mr. N.R. Kaushik – II. B.Com (B&I) proposed Vote of Thanks. The session was graced by the presence of Dignitaries from Madurai Insurance Institute. Seminar arrangements were done by Mrs. V. Padmavathy, HOD – B.Com (B&I) and Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep, Assistant Professor – MBA Programme.

The program ended with a National Anthem.

Course Committee Meeting 2021-22

The Department of Commerce (Hon’s) ACCA conducted a Course Committee Meeting on 11-10-2021 at 11.15 AM to get the students’ opinion and grievances, if any, regarding academics, before the Internal Test-I. In this meeting, II & III year students and three faculty members participated. The syllabus coverage and comprehension of each course were discussed. Students gave valuable feedback and were assured that their inconveniences will be taken care of and academic standards would be maintained through efficient teaching – learning process.

Course Committee Meeting

Dept of MC&HM conducted a Course Committee Meeting on 11.10.2021 at 3.15 p.m. for the students of II year and III year.

The following points were discussed in this meeting:

  1. To review the existing methodology of teaching and learning practices and suggest further improvements.
  2. Preparation of Internal Examination -II
  3. To review the status of department activities and to suggest for the enhancement of these activities.
  4. Status of the completion of the syllabus (course coverage).
  5. Value added courses

Career Counselling on Oil & Gas Industries

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety has organized a one day Career counseling program for 40 students of UG F&IS on 09/10/2021. G.K. Viswanath, DGM-HSE, Adani Gas (Indian Oil-Adani Gas JV-IOAGPL) & M.Manivannan,Assistant Manager-Safety CAPLIN STERILES LIMITED (Subsidiary of Caplin Point Laboratories Ltd) were the resource persons for the program. They shared their Industrial experience, the future of safety field and its job opportunities hydrocarbon & process industry, in India and abroad. They also gave assurance for the internship and placement assistance. They also gave useful suggestion and ideas to the B.Sc (Fire and Industrial Safety) students for a bright future. At the end of the program an interactive session was arranged for the I, II, III Year UG FIS students & PG students who participated in the program. The students of F&IS and engineering graduates felt very happy for arranging such a useful Career guidance  program which helped them to build their Career for a bright future.
