The Department of Commerce (Banking & Insurance) conducted the Board of Studies meeting for the academic year 2025–2026 (Odd Semester) on March 11, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. in Hall No. 112. The syllabus for the I, III & V semesters for the batches 2025–2028, 2024–2027, and 2023–2026 was presented by Mrs. V. Padmavathy, Head of the Department, B.Com (B&I). The panel members of the Board of Studies gave valuable input on the updated syllabus to match current industrial requirements. Furthermore, the members discussed various important aspects of the course to enhance the employability skills of the students. All the members appreciated the syllabus and agreed to proceed with the proposed changes.
“A Guidance and Networking program for Future ACCA Professionals” on 02.08.2025
The Department of B.Com (Honours) ACCA successfully organised an informative program “A Guidance and Networking program for Future ACCA Professionals” under the Royal charter association on 02.08.2025 at SLCS Annexure block Hall no: 102. The program began with formal inauguration. This session was graced by the esteemed chief guest Ms. S. Subathra, Associate – Academics & operations support, ISDC Chennai. This program aimed to provide the guidance to the students to begin their journey in the field of global Professional course ACCA. She explained the various sources which are available in the ACCA website and ISDC Classes. In continuation with, Mr C.R. Aravind, The Regional Head, ISDC, Bangalore, provided a comprehensive overview of the ACCA qualification, outlining its global recognition, structure and vast career opportunities it offers to aspiringfinancing professionals. There was an interactive Q & A session during which students actively engaged with the speaker, asking insightful questions related to the ACCA papers, examination strategies and career pathways. The chief guests addressed each query, offering practical advice and motivational insights that were encouraging the students.The session proved to be highly beneficial for the first year ACCA Students. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered byMs. S. Prabha, Assistant professor of the department. In total 1 faculty and 24 students were benefitted in this program.
“A Career Guidance Program on becoming ACCA Affiliates” on 02.08.2025
The Department of B.Com (Honours) ACCA successfully organized an insightful sessionunder the royal charter association titled “A Career Guidance Program on becoming ACCA Affiliates” on 02.08.2025 SLCS Annexure block Hall no: 116. The event was specifically aimed at second and third-year ACCA students to provide them with essential guidance and effective strategies for their upcoming December term examinations. The session was graced by Mrs. Nandadevi K V, Business Relationship Manager, ISDC, Mangalore delivered an engaging and informative talk focused on digital exam strategies and resource utilization.During her address, emphasized the importance of practicing in the digital mode, particularly on laptops, as the ACCA exams are conducted online. She also introduced students to the variety of free resources available on the official ACCA website, including StudyHub, mock test papers, and practice papers, encouraging them to utilize these tools to enhance their preparation. Furthermore, she stressed the value of professional networkingand recommended that students stay in touch with their seniors and ACCA affiliates, especially those who have already completed the program, to gain insights into current markettrends, job opportunities, and industry expectations. She also encouraged them to connect via LinkedIn and other professional platforms to build meaningful connections in the ACCA community.The session included a lively Q&A segment, where students asked a range of questions related to exams and career paths. The chief guest responded thoughtfully to each query, offering practical tips and motivational advice. The interaction added great value to the session and was highly appreciated by the attendees.The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. S. Charumathi, an Assistant professor of the department. Intotal, 1 faculty and 40 students benefited from the session.
PARENT TEACHERS’ MEETING
PTA meet was organized by the department of B. Com (B & I) for the First and Second year students on 01.02.2025.The Parents Teachers’ Meeting started at 9 a.m. in their respective class rooms. Mrs. V. Padmavathy, Head of the department initiated the meeting. Mr.N.Arunkumar, Assistant professor, B. Com B&I organized PTA meeting for I Year students Mrs.R. Nithya Kalyani Assistant Professor, for B. Com B&II III Year students. The Main goal of the meeting was to create a common platform where teacher and parents come together and discuss the issues related to the student’s progress and ways to enrich their learning experience.
During the meeting, the following things were discussed.
- The progress report about academic performance in the first Internal Exam briefed to parents and their feedback were noted.
- There was very good interaction between the parents and teachers for the development of their wards and discussed the important matters, both strengths and areas of improvements.
- Attendance report shown to the parents of their wards from November to January 2025.
- Feedback regarding the course subject from students was collected.

“Career Training Program to Become a Qualified Chartered Accountant” on 02.08.2025.
The Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized a guest lecture on “Career Training Program to Become a Qualified Chartered Accountant” on 02.08.2025. The event was conducted under the banner of the Department Association PINNACLE. The session was graced by CA P.Nagaraju, founder of SN Coaching Classes, Chennai as the Chief Guest and Resource Person. He provided expert insights and shared effective techniques to excel in the CA exam. This event focused on smart study methods, time management, and regular practice. He encouraged students to maintain clarity in concepts and revise consistently. The session was highly interactive, with students enthusiastically participating in the question & answer segment. In total, 104 students and 3 faculties got benefited from the valuable guidance. The event concluded with a vote of thanks.
LEVEL UP: GAME DESIGN CHALLENGE- 02.08.2025
The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of the School of Animation and Media Studies, SLCS, successfully organized the game event “Level Up: Game Design Challenge” on 30th August 2025 at Animation Academic Lab – 2 from 12:40 PM to 1:30 PM. A total of 20 students from B.Sc. Animation (Game Design and Development Specialization) actively participated in the event. The program was conducted with the objective of encouraging students to design innovative game concepts while enhancing their problem-solving, creativity, and technical skills.
The event included interactive challenges where students applied game design principles, demonstrated teamwork, and showcased their creativity. Participants actively engaged in the activities and exhibited strong interest and enthusiasm throughout the session. The event was well-organized and received positive feedback from the participants. Overall, the program was a successful initiative that contributed to the practical learning and skill development of the students.
PIXEL POWER: GAMING EXPERIENCE DAY- 02.08.2025
The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of the School of Animation and Media Studies, SLCS, successfully organized the game-based event “Pixel Power: Gaming Experience Day” on 02nd August 2025 at Animation Academic Lab – 3 (S64) from 12:40 PM to 1:30 PM. A total of 21 students from B.Sc. Animation (Game Design and Development Specialization) actively participated in the event. The program was conducted with the objective of providing an interactive platform for students to explore game design concepts, enhance creativity, and develop technical skills through engaging gaming activities.
The session commenced with a warm welcome speech delivered by Mr. Venu Madhavan K, setting a positive tone for the program. The event was smoothly hosted by Ms. Darshinii P who efficiently coordinated the flow of activities. The program concluded with a vote of thanks (valedictory address) given by Ms. Hemalatha expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers.
The event included interactive sessions and hands-on experiences that encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking among participants. Students enthusiastically engaged in the activities and showcased their interest in game design and development. The event was well-organized and received positive feedback from the participants. Overall, “Pixel Power: Gaming Experience Day” was a successful initiative that contributed to the academic enrichment and practical exposure of the students.
FILM SCREENING – 02.08.2025
The Medius Coronet Association of the School of Animation and Media Studies organised a “film screening” session of the movie ” Grave of the Fireflies” on 02.08.2025 from 12.40 PM to 1.30 PM for the students of First and Second year of B.Sc. Animation (Visual Effects and Film production Specialization) and Final year students of B.Sc. Visual Communication (Film and Television Production Specialization)
The movie “Grave of the Fireflies” is based on a true story from the author Akiyuki Nosaka’s own life, specifically his experiences as a child during the firebombing of Kobe in World War II.
The story, and the subsequent animated film, depict the struggle for survival of an older brother and his younger sister after their mother dies, culminating in the younger sister’s death from malnutrition.
Students learnt profound lessons about the senselessness of war, the devastating impact on innocent civilians, the resilience of the human spirit, and the critical importance of empathy and humility. Students also learnt about a lot of new techniques used in the movie.
Overall, the session was highly informative and encouraged attendees to learn a lot about various ways and techniques of Animation. Mr.S.Naveen Kumar, Assistant Professor, School of Animation and Media Studies decode the movie and help the students to do analysis.
Intra-departmental Connexions Competition –Association Activity 1
The Hospitality Education Network (HEN) Association of the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management conducted an Intra-departmental Connexions Competition as a part of Association activity on 02.08.2025. 40 students from II and III year of MCHM department actively participated in this competition.
