The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Department of English, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, jointly organized a seminar titled “Campus to Career: From Classroom Conversation to Corporate Confidence” on 18 September 2026 from 12.15 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. at the Subbalakshmi Auditorium. The programme was organized exclusively for the III Year students of the college with the objective of equipping them with essential skills required to face the transition from college to the professional world.
The resource person for the seminar was Dr. A. Jegan Paul, Assistant Professor, Department of English, The American College, Madurai. He delivered an informative and engaging presentation focusing primarily on interview skills and career readiness. He highlighted the importance of effective communication, confidence, positive body language, appropriate professional behaviour, and the ability to present oneself effectively during an interview.
Dr. Jegan Paul discussed various aspects of interview preparation, including understanding the purpose of an interview, introducing oneself confidently, creating profile in linkedin, communicating one’s strengths and skills, and responding appropriately to questions. He emphasized that successful interviews require not only subject knowledge but also clarity of thought, confidence, active listening, appropriate body language, and effective verbal communication. The session was interactive, and the students actively participated in the discussions and activities. The seminar provided the III Year students with practical insights into interview situations and helped them understand the expectations of the corporate and professional environment.
