The Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) organized a Value Added Course on “EDR and Agentic AI in Cyber Security” for the students of III B.Sc. Computer Science (SSS), Batch 2024–2027, during the academic year 2026–2027. The course was conducted to provide students with practical knowledge and industry-oriented awareness of modern cybersecurity technologies, particularly Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Agentic Artificial Intelligence. The sessions were handled by Mr. Gowri Shankar Palanisamy, Director, Hack Up Technology, Coimbatore, who shared his valuable industry experience and expertise with the students.
During the course, students were introduced to the fundamental concepts of EDR and its importance in modern cybersecurity. They learned how EDR solutions continuously monitor endpoint activities, identify suspicious behaviour, detect security threats, and support security teams in responding to cyber incidents. The sessions enhanced students’ understanding of endpoint security, threat detection, incident investigation, and response mechanisms.
Practical explanations and industry-oriented examples helped students understand the application of EDR technologies and AI-based security mechanisms in real-world cybersecurity environments. The importance of continuous monitoring, threat analysis, automated detection, and timely response in protecting organizational systems and endpoints was emphasized.
Overall, the Value Added Course was highly informative and beneficial to the students. It enhanced their understanding of EDR, AI-based threat detection, and Agentic AI applications in cybersecurity. The interactive sessions and practical industry insights provided valuable exposure to modern cybersecurity practices, emerging AI technologies, and career opportunities in the cybersecurity domain.
