The Department of Commerce (Banking and Insurance) and Computer Application & FinTech celebrated International Commerce Day on 08 August 2026 with the objective of recognizing the significance of commerce in economic development and enhancing students knowledge of contemporary commercial practices. The programme provided an opportunity for students to understand the evolving role of commerce in shaping businesses, financial systems, and global trade.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Khushbu Kumari, Head of the Department of Commerce (Banking and Insurance) and Computer Application & FinTech. In her inaugural address, she highlighted the importance of International Commerce Day in creating awareness about the growing scope of commerce and its contribution to economic progress. She encouraged students to develop a deeper understanding of
commercial concepts, ethical business practices, and emerging trends in the global business environment.
The highlight of the programme was an insightful presentation delivered by the Chief Guest, Mr. K. Hariharn (2019–2023 Batch), who is currently pursuing his CA Articleship at N. S. R. Balu & Co. His presentation, titled “The Role of Commerce in Today’s World,” highlighted the vital role of commerce in economic growth, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, digital transformation, and sustainable business practices. He also elaborated on the emerging opportunities and challenges in the field of commerce, emphasizing the significance of professional ethics, innovation, and technological advancements in shaping the modern business environment. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which students actively participated by raising questions and sharing their views on the future of commerce. The programmed successfully inspired students to appreciate the dynamic nature of commerce and its vital role in national and global economic development.
