The Department of Computer Science (Data Science & Analytics) organized a Value-Added Course on Python Programming for the students of I B.ScCS(DSA)from 12/10/2026 to 16/10/2026 with the aim of introducing students to the fundamentals of programming and enhancing their technical and problem-solving skills. The course was designed to provide basic knowledge of Python, a simple, versatile, and widely used programming language in fields such as software development, data science, artificial intelligence, and automation. The course covered the basic concepts of Python programming, including its features, applications, syntax, and execution of programs. Students were introduced to variables, identifiers, data types such as integers, floats, strings, and Boolean values, along with operators and expressions. The sessions also focused on input and output functions, decision-making statements such as if, if-else, and if-elif-else, and looping statements such as for and while. Students learned about basic data structures, including lists, tuples, sets, and dictionaries, as well as string manipulation, indexing, and slicing. The course further introduced functions, arguments, return values, and basic exception handling using try and except. Practical sessions enabled students to write, execute, and debug simple Python programs. Exercises involving arithmetic operations, conditional statements, loops, and functions helped students apply theoretical concepts to practical problems. These activities promoted logical reasoning, computational thinking, analytical skills, and independent learning among the participants. On completion of the course, students gained foundational knowledge of Python programming and developed the confidence to write and execute simple programs. The programme enhanced their digital literacy and programming skills while creating awareness of the applications of Python in emerging technological domains. Overall, the Value-Added Course provided a valuable learning experience for the students, supplemented the regular curriculum, and contributed to skill development and employability enhancement. Totally 40 students attended the training and get benefitted.
