An industrial visit to Masco Tea Estate, Vagamon was organized for our Fire and insustrial safety students on October 1 & 2, 2026, with the primary
objective of providing practical exposure to industrial safety implementation
and workplace safety practices.
During the visit, the students observed the various activities carried out in the tea
estate and learned about the importance of maintaining a safe working environment. The staff explained the safety measures followed during tea cultivation, collection, transportation, and processing activities. Students were also made aware of potential workplace hazards and the importance of identifying and controlling risks before carrying out any work.
The visit focused on the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safe handling of equipment and machinery, maintaining cleanliness in the workplace, and following safety instructions. The students learned that workers should use appropriate protective equipment and follow standard safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
The importance of fire safety, emergency preparedness, first-aid facilities,
proper signage, and safe movement within the workplace was also discussed.
Students understood how safety awareness and responsible behaviour can help
reduce workplace accidents. The visit provided practical knowledge about how
safety measures are implemented in an actual industrial environment.
The industrial visit was highly informative and helped the students relate their
academic knowledge to real-life safety practices. It improved their awareness of
hazard identification, risk prevention, PPE usage, emergency response, and
workplace safety management.
