The Department of Business Administration, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, organized the Inauguration of the Electoral Literacy Club on 11th July 2026 at the Subbalakhmi Block, in collaboration with the Election Commission of India under the “No Voter to be Left Behind” initiative. The session, titled “Empowering Young Minds for a Stronger Democracy,” was graced by Saravana Vignesh, Assistant Professor, BBA, as the Chief Guest. He delivered an insightful address on “The Power of Your Vote — Understanding the Importance of Electoral Literacy,” emphasizing the four pillars of electoral literacy: KNOW, UNDERSTAND, ENGAGE, and QUESTION. The programme was attended by students of I, II & III BBA (All Streams), who actively participated in the interactive session.
The Chief Guest highlighted that India’s youth (18–35 years) constitute over 40% of the electorate, and their informed participation is pivotal in shaping the nation’s democratic future. He elaborated on voter registration procedures, the functioning of EVMs and VVPAT, and the critical need to verify facts and reject electoral misinformation. The session inspired students to exercise their franchise responsibly, uphold democratic values, and emerge as active, informed citizens committed to strengthening India’s electoral process
