The Department of Commerce (Hon’s) ACCA celebrated the “Fresher’s Party” on 2^nd November 2021.  The fresher’s day was filled with excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness. The celebration started at 10.00 AM at the Seminar Hall. Warm welcome was extended to all the dignitaries, our Principal Dr. R.Sujatha, Vice-Principal Dr. K.Archunan, Dean Academics Dr. S.Priya, Department Head Incharge Dr. D.Selvaraj and Department Faculty Mr. A.Raja in the function. Followed by this, welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Landa Abishek, final year ACCA student. The freshers were formally welcomed into the ACCA Family. The jury and other guests of honours were also introduced. Events started with a Self introduction of 1^st year, 2^nd year and 3^rd year students. All of them were impressive in their own way. Later on, the fun team lead by 3^rd year students took on the stage in their funny way of attracting the audience and adding cherry to the pie. And after that there was an excellent dance performance by both 1^st and 2^nd years. After this, two students gave an extraordinary Singing performance. After this all the games were started. That was a real fun ever in our college days. After completion of games seniors warmly welcomed our faculty members and distributed sweets. After this all the freshers and 2^nd years were called upon to the stage by seniors to give a small gift and sweets to everyone.

Mr. J.S.Sanjay, final year student of B.Com., (Hons’) ACCA, successfully passed the Knowledge level examination in ACCA course F7: Financial Reporting on September 2021. The result was announced from the ACCA (UK) on 18.10.2021. He also cleared 7 ACCA papers (6 exempted papers + 1 Non-exempted paper) successfully. His academic performance is highly appreciable and career guidance is continuously given by our Professors, Principal and Management of our esteemed Institution of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science. The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA appreciated the remarkable performance of Mr. J.S.Sanjay in the ACCA examination.

The Department of Commerce (Hon’s) ACCA conducted a Course Committee Meeting on 11-10-2021 at 11.15 AM to get the students’ opinion and grievances, if any, regarding academics, before the Internal Test-I. In this meeting, II & III year students and three faculty members participated. The syllabus coverage and comprehension of each course were discussed. Students gave valuable feedback and were assured that their inconveniences will be taken care of and academic standards would be maintained through efficient teaching – learning process.

B.Com. (Honours) ACCA first year students attended the induction program on 29^th September, 2021 between 09.30 am and 12.30 pm at Seminar Hall and in the college campus ground of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science. Our respected Principal Dr. R Sujatha has engaged with freshers and conducted various events to motivate them. She also threw more light on required skills which need to be developed.

Third year B.Com. (Honours) ACCA students attended the live webinar on “Sharpen your Axe” on 24^th September, 2021 between 11.00 am and 12.00 Noon at Conference Hall, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science. The event was organized by ACCA UK. The resource persons were Dr. Dinesh Kumar Murugesan, Global Head HR, Gbs & HR Head, India at DSM as well as Ms. Monica Mathais Seigell, HR Business Partner – Corporate Functions (APJ) at Microfocus. They shared their ideas with our students on how to make valuable CV and required interview skills. This discussion provided to our final year students the necessary skills and techniques to prepare for an interview.

Department of Commerce (Honours and ACCA) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai, conducted Parents-Teachers Association Meeting held at Hall No.104 of RLINS block on 22.09.2021 between 11.00 am and 12.30 pm. There was a discussion with the parents on the academic performance of the students and their performance in the first internal examination. Students were motivated to improve their performance in upcoming internal test. Students were asked to maintain discipline, neat dress codes and properly groom hair. Parents were highly satisfied with the response related to their queries.

The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organizes a value-added course on “Preparation of Financial Statements” on all Saturdays from 28.08.2021 to 11.12.2021. The course is resourced by Dr. K.Archunan, Vice Principal, SLCS. A lecture was delivered on applying accounting standards and the theoretical framework in the preparation of financial statements of entities, including analysis and interprets financial statements. All III Year ACCA students participated in this course.

The department of Commerce (Honours & ACCA) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science celebrated the Memorial Day of Lal Bahadhur Shastri on 11.01.2020. Dr. M. Tharani, Head of the Department organized the celebration. Ms. M. M. Kavya of II Honours welcomed the gathering. Dr. B. Ramamoorty, Principal delivered the felicitation address. Students enthusiastically and energetically performed a skit, “The Tashkent Files”, a political thriller revolving around the mysterious death of former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The celebrations ended with Mr. R. Ramkumar of II Honours delivering the vote of thanks. 80 students got benefited.
