As a premier institution of Madurai, SLCS continued to enjoy immense confidence of the recruiters for placement for the batch of 2015-2018. Initially the City Union Bank conducted the campus recruitment drive for the third year students of Commerce Department in our college campus on 02.11.2017. Six panel members were from the City Union Bank, Head Office, Kumbakkonam. Around 35 students participated in the recruitment. The recruitment drive consists of essay writing test, On-line aptitude test and personal interview. Each and every student performed well. The recruiters felt happy and also were satisfied about the performance of the students. The department felt really happy that all the students participated with confidence and enthusiasm.

On 1^st November, 2017 in MBA Hall, Orientation Programme for I, II & III B.Com Students was organized by the Department of Commerce on 01.11.2017. The programme commenced with Prayer followed by the Key note was delivered by Mrs.V.Padmavathy , HOD of Commerce Department of SLCS.  Dr.S.Gurupriya and Ms.B.Shanmugapriya, Asst. Professor conducted the Ice Breaking Session.

As Part of Campus Recruitment Training, The Department had given special training for two days from 31-10-2017 to 01-11-2017 to the students who have to be attended the City Union Bank interview, in the three area of specialization which are Communicative English by Mr.Sivakumar, Aptitude by Ms.Vichitra & Subject oriented by Mr.Eswaran.

As part of academic achievement, CUENTAS Association organized a technical programme on the topic “Marketing strategy”. All the commerce students participated in this programme. Ms.Selvameena of I B.Com gave the welcome address and the felicitation address was given by Mr.K.Rajesh Kumar, Asst.Prof & Head, of BBA Department. The II and I year B.Com students presented their papers. The presentations were judged based on three categories i.e. subject knowledge, body language & verbal delivery. Two teams were selected as best presentaters –  I – Mr.Mukil Prabhu & Krishore Kumar, of II B.Com & II – Mr. Vijay Pravin & Anjana of I B.Com. Totally 9 papers were presented. In the other event, that is Ad-Act event 4 teams participated. The participants were judged on the criterion – concept and activity. Two teams were selected as the best teams – the first place went to Team – A of I B.Com and second place was secured by Team B of III B.Com. The Vote of thanks was given by Ms.Sugirtha of I B.Com.

As part of the student’s overall growth a Talent Hunt was organized to help the students exhibit their talent and to bring out their hidden talent. It started with a III year B.Com student teaching a few dance steps to the other students. Many students exhibited their multiple talents with the I year girls and boys leading the way. The first year students sang many songs and also staged a skit on the suicide of “Anita”. It was a very enlightening afternoon for the students.

As a premier institution of Madurai, SLCS is proud to share its knowledge about the “Parameters for currency value differences” to Valayankulam Govt. High School students. It gives the school students awareness of the currency values among different countries and the reasons behind the differences of these values. These were presented through power point and charts by our students to the school students.

As part of academic enhancement, Final year B.Com students are presented their Internship training report through point presentation in seminar Hall, the panel members are Mrs. V.Padmavathy, HOD, Mrs.S.Gurupriya and Ms.B.Shanmugapriya,

Principal and Vice-Principal also encouraged the students.

As part of academic enhancement, 1^st Death Anniversary Day of Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam was celebrated by conducting Elocution, poet writing, essay competition and drawing competition, welcome address given by Mrs.V.Padmavathy, HOD of Commerce, Presidential address by Mr.P.Saravanan, Principal of SLCS and felicitation by Mr.C.Archunan, Vice-Principal, Special address by Mr.Kumar, Asst. Prof. Of Tamil and vote of thanks given by Ms.M.Gowsiga, II year B.Com student. in that celebration above 160 students were attended and few students were participated in the above said events and prices were also distributed to encourage the best student.

Department Association Inauguration is conducted in Seminar Hall, Welcome address by Mrs. V.Padmavathy, HOD of commerce department, inaugural address given by former Principal, Mr.R.L.Ramnath, COE of SLCS, Presidential address given by Principal Mr.P.Saravanan and Facilitation by Vice-Principal Mr.C.Archunan and Mrs.V.Padmavathy, announced the department torch bearers, President as Hemanth, Vice-president as Saran Pratap and secretary as Preadeepa from third year students as nominees to do the department activities as much as better. Association Name “CUENTAS” Vote of thanks given by Dr.S.Gurupriya, Asso. Prof of Commerce.

As part of academic enhancement,  Welcome address by Ms.Pradeepa, III year B.com student, Motivational Speech by Mr. S.P.Balasubramanian, Alumina of our college, 2013-2016 passed out student, he had given about how to be a best human being, and vote of thanks given by Ms.K.Gowsiga, II year B.Com students.
