The Department of Computer Science (Data Science & Analytics) &  Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) organized a Freshers’ Day Celebration on 02 July 2026 (Thursday) to warmly welcome the first-year students of B.Sc. Computer Science (Data Science and Analytics) and B.Sc. Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning). The programme was conducted with the objective of helping the newcomers feel comfortable in their new academic environment, fostering interaction between senior and junior students, and creating a sense of belonging within the department.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of the students of II B.Sc. Computer Science (Data Science and Analytics) and III B.Sc. Computer Science (Data Science and Analytics), who played an active role in organizing and conducting the programme. The seniors warmly welcomed the first-year students and shared their personal experiences of college life, highlighting the academic and personal growth they had achieved during their years in the department.

During the interaction, the senior students introduced the newcomers to various opportunities available in the college. They explained the importance of participating in technical events, seminars, workshops, coding competitions, hackathons, paper presentations, certification programmes, internships, and placement training activities. They also encouraged the freshers to actively engage in clubs, sports, cultural programmes, and other extracurricular activities, emphasizing that these experiences contribute significantly to personality development, leadership skills, teamwork, and self-confidence.

The seniors also shared useful tips on effective time management, maintaining a balance between academics and extracurricular activities, preparing for university examinations, and building strong technical skills throughout the course. Their guidance helped the first-year students gain a better understanding of college life and inspired them to make the most of the opportunities available on campus.

To make the programme lively and enjoyable, the senior students organized a variety of fun-filled games and interactive activities. The freshers participated enthusiastically in these games, which helped break the ice and encouraged them to interact freely with their seniors and classmates.

The programme concluded on a joyful note, with the freshers expressing their happiness and appreciation for the warm welcome extended by their seniors. The Freshers’ Day celebration successfully strengthened the bond between senior and junior students, promoted a positive learning environment, and made the newly admitted students feel confident and excited about their journey in the Department of Computer Science. Totally 94 students participated in the session.
