National Service Scheme popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhi Centenary year, 1969 and aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. The overall objective of National Service Scheme is “not me but you” which is attained through the service to the community. NSS is a permanent youth program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and funded by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Government of India.
Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – SLCS, Madurai, is an autonomous self financing college affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. SLCS became autonomous in 2006 and it is at liberty to frame its own course of studies and adopt innovative methods of teaching and evaluation to make our student employable. It has been recognized as a premier institution of higher learning for job-oriented courses. SLCS’ NSS cell (Unit No-105) has brought out Guidelines with the rules and guidelines for conducting various Regular and Special Camping activities, to ensure uniformity in the programs. The activities of NSS is mainly focused on Technology transfer to rural mass and help the rural youth for creating the job opportunity, through conducting different types of training programs. The volunteers of NSS will be benefited by gaining self-confidence, leadership quality and so on through the activities which are organized by the NSS.
