SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA ON SAFETY IN KITCHEN

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety, Hebert William Henrich Association jointly organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an extension activity on “SAFETY IN KITCHEN” at Kanjanayakanpatti, near Aruppukottai on 14/02/2022.  2 students from II Year B.Sc., Fire & Industrial Safety, and Mr.M.Anathakrishnan & Mr.D.Balaji participated in the activity. This initiative created the awareness among the Homemakers who works in the Kitchen most of the time. During this activity the students guided the people about safe Handling of Kitchen Appliances. The students explained what to do and what not to do during the happenings of fire accidents.

The aim of this activity is to emphasize and highlight about the need safety precaution while working in kitchen. The Homemakers from the village render their Cooperation & the involvement the students were commendable. Totally 20 people got benefitted through the Kitchen safety awareness.

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA ON SAFETY IN CONSTRUCTION

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety, Hebert William Henrich Association organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an extension activity on “SAFETY IN CONSTRUCTION” at VA TECH WABAG LTD, Coimbatore on 14/02/2022. One student from III year, Mr.S.Kaviraj participated in the activity. This initiative created the awareness among the people who working in the construction. He also insisted the people to Hard hat (Yellow – Construction work) and Safety harness to avoid the risk of fall. During this activity the student explained the people about the Hazards in the construction such as Work at height, Moving objects, Slips, Trips, Material Handling etc.

The aim of this activity is to emphasize and highlight about the need of safety in construction. The Authorities and Employees from the VA TECH WABAG LTD render their Cooperation. The involvement of students was commendable to reach out the maximum number of workers in the construction and by creating awareness. Totally 20 people got benefitted through the awareness on construction Safety.

Trekking and Forest Survival Training Program

Herbert William Henrich Association of Department of Fire and Industrial Safety and NSS, jointly organized the “Trekking and Forest Survival Training Program” for teaching and non-teaching faculty at Shenbaga Thoppu, Srivilliputhur on 05.02.2022. Department staffs and forest officers clearly explained forest survival techniques and benefits of trekking like, it reduces heart diseases, improves fitness, reduces weight, helps to lower the blood pressure. FIS staff members explained the rules and regulations of forest trekking and organized them as two teams and forest officers also participated in this trekking program.

 The faculty members and students gave the feedback on the trekking experience as a stress buster. Totally, 80(teaching, non-teaching faculty members and drivers) were benefited through this training program.

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA ON COVID VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety, Hebert William Henrich Association and Government Hospital, Reddiapatti,  jointly organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an extension activity on “COVID VACCINATION CAMPAIGN” at Reddiapatti Village near Aruppukottai on 05/02/2022. Our Department III year student Mr.C.Rohith assisted the activity. This initiative created the awareness among the people to do vaccination and to ensure the safety. They also insisted the people to wear Mask and Maintain Social distancing to avoid the spread of the deadly disease. During this activity the student guided the people about the importance of vaccination.

The aim of this campaign is to emphasize and highlight about the need of Vaccination. The Authorities and Staff members from the Government Hospital render their Cooperation & the involvement the students were commendable to reach out the maximum number of population in the society and by creating awareness. Totally 30 people got vaccinated through the COVID vaccination awareness campaign.

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – AWARENESS ON DREADFUL DISEASES

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety & Hebert William Henrich Association jointly organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an extension activity on “AWARENESS ON DREADFUL DISEASES” at Viradhanoor Village & Kusavapatti Village on 31/01/2022. Totally 2 faculty members HoD i/c Mr.I.Vivek Ramkumar & Assistant professor Mr.B.Satheeshprabu along with III year students (11 Nos) have conducted the activity. They created awareness on dreadful diseases like Covid-19, AIDS, Dengue, Malaria etc. This initiative created the awareness among the people to maintain their self cleanliness and to know about the precautions to be followed. The students insisted the village people to wear mask and do their vaccination without fail. During this activity students explained the causes and effects of the diseases among the people.

The aim of this campaign is to emphasize and highlight about the need of following the safety measures during the pandemic periods. The Village people render their Cooperation & ensure us they will follow the safety measures. Nearly 45 villagers got benefitted through this activity.

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA ON ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety & Hebert William Henrich Association jointly organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an extension activity on “ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS” at Paraipathi Tollgate & Valayankulam Tollgate on 25/01/2022.    Our Department faculty members Mr. A.Jaiveer Kumar & Mr. R. Brameshwaran along with III year students Mr. S.Kaviraj & Mr.P.Sabarinathan have conducted the activity. Totally 2 faculty members and 2 students participated in the event. They created awareness on Road Safety among the Auto mobile drivers and also insisted the people to wear Mask and Helmet while driving. This initiative created the awareness among the people to wear seatbelts and also to ensure safe road crossing by insisting the pedestrians to follow rules. During this activity students guided the civilians on importance of following the traffic signal. The focus was also given about the risk factors of drunken driving.

People who travel in unprofessional way were requested to use road safety measures and follow the traffic rules by giving them the Pamphlets indicating the Road safety rules.

The aim of this campaign is to emphasize and highlight about the need of Road Safety and to motivate citizens about the traffic rules. The Authorities and Staff members in Tollgate render their Cooperation & the involvement of the faculty and the students were commendable to reach out the maximum number of population in the society and by creating awareness.

CAREER COUNSELING ON PRINCIPLES OF SAFETY MAMAGEMENT SYSTEM

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety has organized a one day Career counseling program through our Alumnus for 40 students of UG F&IS on 17/01/2022. Our College Alumnus Mr.M.Vengadesh, (2018-2021 Batch) Safety-superviser, Shakthi Auto component limited, Tiruppur was the resource persons for the program. He shared his Industrial experience & job opportunities in Safety Management System. He explained the responsibilities and importance of the safety profession. He also gave assurance for the internship and placement assistance. He also gave useful suggestion and ideas to the B.Sc (Fire and Industrial Safety) students for a bright future. At the end of the program an interactive session was arranged for the I,II,III Year UG FIS and PG students students who participated in the program. The students of F&IS and engineering graduates felt very happy for arranging such a useful Career guidance  program which helped them to build their Career for a bright future.

Webinar on National energy conservation day

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety, Environmental Health and Safety club and eco club celebrated the National energy conservation day awareness program through online on 12.1.2022. The B.Sc., F&IS students, Environmental Health & Safety club and Eco club students’ members participated in this program. Totally 56 participants (35 members from 2 clubs and 21 students from F&IS) got benefitted through the webinar. Mr.B.Sateesh Prabhu , Assistant Professor of F&IS gave the guest lecture on National energy conservation day. He elaborately explained the theme of national conservation day of this year and the importance of energy conservation .He also explained the employment opportunity in the field of renewable energy. The theme of National conservation day 2022 ‘Azadika Amrit Mahotsav: Energy Efficient India” and ‘Azadika Amrit Mahotsav: Cleaner Planet’ was insisted towards the students.

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA-AWARNESS ON COVID-19

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety & Hebert William Henrich Association jointly organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA at Froebel Matric Hr. Sec. School, Aviyur on 07/01/2022. Our Department HOD and two faculty members along with I, II&III year students (21 Nos) have conducted the activity. They delivered the Awareness speech on Covid-19 Pandemic and especially for principle of epidemic & toxicology. The students were also explained about the various procedures for disease identification such as case control, prospective coherent & retrospective coherent study. Totally 46 students of the Froebel Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Aviyur actively interacted with the faculty members and got the clarifications regarding the fear during the pandemic. The program was successful in creating the awareness to the students and staff members.

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA ON “BASIC FIRST AID AND BASIC FIRE SAFETY”

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety & Hebert William Henrich Association jointly organized an SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA at Froebel Matric Hr. Sec. School, Aviyur on 07/01/2022. Our Department HOD and two faculty members along with II&III (21 Nos) year students have conducted the activity. The students of F&IS explained the school children about the Basic First Aid & Basic Fire Safety and Domestic Safety. The training was also given for the school student, the teachers on how to operate the Fire Extinguishers during the emergency time. Totally 46 students and 2 teachers were benefited through the activity.

The program was conducted with respect to the strategies to be adopted and to create awareness on the day to day activities related to Safety issues. The program was successful in creating awareness to the students and staff on the Basic Fire Safety and Domestic Safety.
