Fresher’s Day Celebration – 2022-23

The Department of Commerce (Hon’s) ACCA celebrated the “Fresher’s Party” on 06.10.2022.  The fresher’s day was filled with excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness. The celebration started at 2.00 PM at the Seminar Hall. The freshers were formally welcomed into the ACCA Family. The jury and other guests of honour were also introduced. Event started with a self introduction of 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year students. Everyone was impressive in their own way. Later on, the fun team led by 3rd year and 2nd year students took over the stage in their funny way of attracting the audience. After that, an excellent dance performance was given by 1st years. The senior students conducted games for the freshers, which is a real fun ever in college days. After completion of games seniors warmly welcomed our faculty members and distributed sweets. Finally, all the freshers were called upon to the stage by seniors to give a small gifts and sweets to remember the day.

Career Training Program on “Accounting for Business”

Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai and ISDC, Bangalore jointly organized a Career Training Program on “Accounting for Business” from 12.09.2022 to 26.09.2022 on Zoom Meet (Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/s/84572444933#success) Prof. Disha Kabra,  Faculty,  International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), Bangalore, was the instructor. Students were able to maintain a complete and systematic record of all transactions and analyze the financial position of a business. Every individual or a business concern is interested to know the results of financial transactions and their results are ascertained through the accounting process. Totally, 22 students of II ACCA participated and benefitted through this value added course.

 

Webinar on “Innovation in Personal Financial Management – A Lesson to the Budding Leaders of Tomorrow”

The Royal Charter Association of Commerce (Honours) ACCA organized a Webinar on “Innovation in Personal Financial Management – A Lesson to the Budding Leaders of Tomorrow” on 10.09.2022 (Saturday) at 3.00 PM, through Google Meet (link: https://meet.google.com/ijt-hnpm-unv). The Resource Person, Dr. Sharan Kumar Shetty, Associate Professor & Head, International Relations, Manel Srinivasa Nayak Institute of Management, Mangaluru, Karnataka., insisted that the Financial intermediaries have to perform the task of financial innovation to meet the ever-changing requirements of the economy and to help the investors cope with the increasingly volatile market. In case of Low Profitability, Competition, Economic Liberalization, Customer service, Global impact and Investor awareness, there is a necessity for the financial intermediaries to innovate unique financial instruments. Students were motivated through this program. Totally, 40 students participated and benefitted.

Value Added Course on “Analytical Framework of Financial Management”

The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai and ISDC, Bangalore jointly organized a VALUE ADDED COURSE ON “ANALYTICAL FRAMEWORK OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT” from 01.08.2022 to 09.09.2022 on Zoom Meet Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87066747872. Prof.  Annie Kavitha Pitta, Faculty, International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), Bangalore, was the instructor. Students were able to evaluate Investment and Financing Decisions; to ,manage and control Working Capital and to identify and manage Financial Risk. Totally, 13 students of III ACCA, participated and benefitted through this value added course.

 

Students Achievement in CMA Exam

Mr. J.Siva and Mr. K.Venkatesh, of III B.Com., (Honours) ACCA, successfully passed the Foundation Level Examination in CMA conducted by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India on June 2022. They are going to appear for ACCA papers and CMA intermediate papers. The academic performance is highly appreciable and career guidance is given by our Professors and Principal. The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA, appreciated the remarkable performance of Mr. J.Siva and Mr. K.Venkatesh in the CMA Courses.

“National Small Industry Day” Celebration – “Forum on Known and Unknown Things in Commerce Today”

Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA and Trade Club jointly organized a Forum on “Known and Unknown Things in Commerce Today” in commemoration with the “National Small Industry Day” Celebration on 30.08.2022 at Auditorium of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai. The program commenced with a prayer song. The Presidential address was delivered by Dean Academics, Dr. S.Priya. Dr. D.Selvaraj, Head of the Department, Commerce (Honours) ACCA, introduced the Chief Guest. The Resource Person, Dr.  S.IRULAPPAN, Director of Commerce and Management Studies, Vivekananda College of Arts and Sciences for Women (Autonomous), Tiruchengode. (Former Principal of Madurai Kamaraj University College, Madurai), briefed on the significance of the celebration in the lives of the young entrepreneurs of the country. This will lead to a self-reliant environment and boost the country’s economic condition; rise of the medium and small-scale industries creating an amazing ecosystem in the rural and urban sectors. Students were motivated through this program. Totally, 323 students participated and benefitted.

Student Achievement in Sports

Mr. A.Abimannan, II B.Com., (Hons’) ACCA, participated in the “State Level Championship” organized by “Ever Shine Boxing Academy” held at Chennai,  from 25.08.2022 to 28.08.2022. He has Secured Silver Medal and Certificate in ‘67 Kg to 71 Kg’ weight category of senior level. He has appreciable performance in his sports activity & academic performance and career guidance is continuously offered by our Professors, Physical Education Director, Principal and Management of our esteemed Institution. The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA appreciated the remarkable performance of Mr. A.Abimannan.
