The Department has 3 well equipped spacious Animation labs, class rooms, a Drawing Hall and a Cel Animation Lab with Chroma key studio.

Animation Labs:

The labs are equipped with good sound systems and each lab has one 60 inch LED TV. All animation-lab workstations are installed with updated software packages such as Adobe Master Collection, Autodesk Packages, Avid Media Composer and Foundry Nuke.

Cel Animation Lab:

Cel Animation is a traditional form of animation used in the production of cartoons and animated movies, where each frame of the scene is drawn by hand. A full-length feature film produced using cel animation would often require a million or more drawings to complete.

The department has one spacious Cel Animation Lab with well conditioned Light Boxes.

Chroma Key Studio

Chroma key compositing or chroma keying is a visual effects/post-production technique for compositing (layering) two images or video streams together based on colors (chroma range). The technique has been used heavily in many fields to remove a background from the subject of a photo or video – particularly news casting, motion picture and videogame industries. The department has one Green Matte facilitated studio.

Drawing Hall

The department has a spacious, ventilated and well-equipped Drawing Hall with a 60 inch LED TV and a work station. In the field of Animation drawing plays a vital role. It remains a central and pivotal activity to the work of many artists and designers – a touchstone and tool of creative exploration that informs visual discovery. It fundamentally enables the visualization and development of perceptions and ideas. With a history as long and intensive as the history of culture, the act of drawing remains a fundamental means to translate, document, record and analyse the world we inhabit. The role of drawing in education remains critical and not just to the creative disciplines in art and design for which it is foundational.
