CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL BIRD DAY

The Department of Animation & D. P. Roy Choudhury Association jointly celebrated the “National Bird Day 2022” on 05.01.2022 (Wednesday) between 02.00pm and 03.30 pm. Ms. Madhubala and Ms.Thrisheetha from II year Animation created an Awareness Poster on “Save Birds” and they distributed it to every department of the college. They created awareness among the faculty members about the importance of protecting the interest of birds and the key role played by the birds in protecting the environment.  They also stated that about 12 per cent of world’s 9,800 bird species may face extinction within the next century. They requested the members they met to keep away a small amount of water in their home which may be a reason for the Life of a single bird. The Faculty members congratulated the students and also encouraged them to take more initiatives in the future.

SEMINAR ON “FUTURE PLAN FOR INVESTMENT”

Department of B.Com (Honours) ACCA and Trade Club jointly organized a Seminar on “Future Plan for Investment” on 05th January 2022 at Audio Visual Hall of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai. The program was commenced with prayer song. Special address was given by our Respected Vice Principal Dr. K. Archunan. Key note address was delivered by Dr. D.Selvaraj, Head Incharge / B.Com. (Honours) ACCA. The Resource Person Mr. M. Kumar Rajaraman, Financial Advisor, Mutual Funds and General Insurance, Madurai shared his experience to the students and motivated them to think about various investment plans for their future. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. A.Raja, Assistant Professor / B.Com. (Honours) ACCA and Trade Club Co-ordinator. 74 students participated and got benefitted by attending this program.

Birthday Celebration of Savitribai Phule

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized Birthday Celebration of Savitribai Phule on 03.01.2022 at Academic Lab-I between 02.30 pm and 03.15 pm. The Welcome Address was delivered by Ms.Madhubala from II Year Animation. Mr. P. Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Assistant Professor of the department shared the importance of the event and he stated that she was the first female teacher and ardent champion of ending caste discrimination and illiteracy. She played an important role in improving women’s rights in India. Her sacrifices and struggles as a social reformer will be remembered for a long time. The Chief Guest for this function was Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal, SLCS. She made the students realize the importance of education, especially girl children, by giving examples of her own experiences. She inspired many students to take the challenges of life and how one can be successful in uplifting the downtrodden and the marginalized. The event was followed by Screening of the biography film of Savitribai Phule. Ms. Harini from I year Animation proposed the vote of thanks.

Totally 52 students participated in this programme from I & II year Animation.

PONGAL DAY COMPETITION REPORT 2021 – 22

Department of languages of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, organized a Hairdo competition on 03.01.2022in F38 Hall of our college. In this competition totally 13 groups (2 participants per team so totally 26 students) participated in the Hairdo competition. Students from various departments participated and registered their names in the event successfully.

Conveners of this event are Mrs.N.Selvi, Assistant professor, Department of Tamil and Mrs.R.SuganthiHepzibha, Assistant Professor, Department of English welcomed the Participants and explained the rules and regulations of the Hairdocompetition.

The Team member of this event,Mrs.S.Neela,Assistant professor, Department of Hindi represented the Event and nominated the judges for this event. Dr.S.Priya, Dean-Academics and Mrs.K.P.Maheswari Assistant Coordinator (IQAC) cum Assistant Professor were the judges for the Hairdo performance of the Students. Score sheet was also given to the judges, to award the marks based on the traditional/western.

Based on the marks obtained by the team, the conveners, member and judges selected the teams for the first, second and third places.

Finally the competition ended and the participants were appreciated for their wonderful performance. Totally 26 students participated in the competition.

Techie Quest club-Cyber Security Cross Word Puzzle Competition

The Techie Quest club of Computer Science department conducted a crossword puzzle competition on 03.01.2022 at Academic Lab–I. The club members, club coordinator and student club coordinators participated in the event.  Welcome address was given by Mr.Abdul Riyan (II Networking), Student Coordinator. Mrs.V.Gayathri, Club Coordinator conducted a cross word puzzle competition on cyber security concepts. All the club members participated & solved the puzzles in enthusiastic manner.Finally vote of thanks was proposed by Ms.Abinaya of II B.Com B & I. Totally 24 students participated in this event.

“Sustainable & Environmental-friendly Nutrition’’

The Health and Nutrition club of the department of FSPM conducted a “Sustainable & Environmentally-friendly Nutrition” for the students. The student coordinator Mr.R.Blesson from the department of MCHM welcomed the gathering and conducted the event. Totally 20 students eagerly participated and benefited from it. They enjoyed and said that it was a new awareness and it would be very useful for them in their future. The sole aim of the activity conducted was to impart skills to the target group. This will  build their confidence and  inculcate a sense of social responsibility among the students.

SLCS Samaaj seva – Extension activity – Distribution of free food during New Year – 2022

ZEAL, an Association of BBA Department, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science,  Madurai organized an extension activity on the New Year day – 01.01.2022.  Free food packets along with bottled mineral water were distributed to the homeless, abandoned and deserted people along the roadside.  This brought a sense of completeness and happiness in the minds of the students. Students were immensely satisfied after witnessing the smile on the faces of the homeless people on receiving the food packets. 2 students from I BBA and 4 students from II BBA participated in this extension activity.

OUT DOOR CATERING (ODC) at Taj Gateway Hotel & Amika Hotel, Madurai .

Taj Gateway Hotel and Amika Hotel, Madurai have given an opportunity for our students to do outdoor catering (ODC). The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management sent 33 students from second and first year for ODC programme from 30.12.21 to 31.12.21. It was a great platform for the students to gain knowledge about New Year theme decoration, bar arrangement in banquet hall, Service of liquor, setting of buffet in cocktail party, and different cuisine food preparation techniques. This opportunity motivated and gave hands-on experience to the students.

CUENTAS ASSOCIATION PROGRAM

CUENTAS Association organized a program on 31.12.21 in NS Annexure Building. The students of I, II and III B.Com (B&I) participated in this program. Ms.Vidhya of III B.Com (B& I) delivered the welcome address. The Competitions were conducted on Quiz, Paper Presentation for Co curricular activity and Dance and Singing for Extracurricular activity. Prize winners were announced by the judges of different events. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Nagarjun of  II B.Com (B & I). The program ended with National Anthem.

Seminar on “Combating stress with simple techniques”

ZEAL, an Association of BBA Department, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a seminar on “Combating stress with simple techniques” on 30.12.2021. Ms.N.Sharmila, Chairperson, BOOM Welfare Community Trust, Madurai & Master Trainer, Madurai City Police, was the resource person. Totally 64 students comprising of I and II year BBA participated and got benefited through the program. The resource person demonstrated some simple techniques to be followed in tackling and managing stress. She also highlighted the positive impact of stress.
